His Lectures are funny and very informing. Take good notes, almost word for word and keep them organized and you will be fine. Don't buy the book just take good notes. If you watch every lecture and take organized notes it should be an easy A.

Really silly, funny guy. His lectures are a bit slow, but otherwise interesting! Most of the class is common sense, a bit of new information, but if you just watch all lectures and write down everything he says, you should be able to get an easy A. Tests are straightforward and it's a fairly enjoyable class.

Comment:

Took this class online & was really impressed actually. He puts a lot into the lectures & does try & make them interactive even though this was an online class. I am usually not a test person but these exams were truly on the chapter & lectures, very direct. He is also fair & I actually enjoyed just having to worry about the exams over busy work.

Pros: No hw, 4 tests but lowest score dropped, 1st exam material is super easy Cons: Monotone/boring guy, material gets much more complex after the first exam, slow at responding to emails, lectures can be as short as 20 min or as long as 2 hrs Do well on the first 3 exams so you don't even have to bother on the 4th one

Pretty easy class because he pretty much hands us the information. If you just copy his lecture notes exactly and listen to his jokes, his class is actually pretty enjoyable. I rewrote my notes as flashcards and studied it like that. Make sure you do well on the tests because those are your only points.

Class is really boring, though the professor is pretty nice. All tests are based on lectures but be sure to read the book if you miss lecture. I suggest taking the class with friends so you can miss a lecture or two cause the class is excruciatingly long.

super easy class! prof Kern is funny and makes class less boring. dont need to buy the book, just study from notes. take a laptop because he has a lot of info on his lecture slides. 4 exams all multiple choice/true-false, drops your lowest score. no quizzes or homework. so easy :)

Kern is always throwing out lame jokes that still make you laugh somehow. The academic demand for this class is VERY low. Just 4 tests of which 1 he drops. I had no time to study for this class and still ended up averaging at a high B (I'm hoping he will give me an A :P). Overall Kern's class is a break from other classes. Text book not necessary!

Kern's class is pretty laid back, there are 4 tests and you get to drop your lowest. He jokes around a lot but still provides great information with his lectures. Class could be cut in about half the time if he didn't spend so much time joking though. Overall, great professor!

Great undergraduate and graduate professor. Dr. Kern has a casual style about him and jokes a lot. Don't be fooled by this--he is extremely smart. Always available to students for questions and help. Have fun in this class-it's a nice break from other classes!

Kern is a good teacher, brings difficult concepts to your level. He's nice and is definitely interested in what he is teaching. The lectures are a little bland at times, but his random tangents he goes on are interesting. Take him if you can, he's a pretty cool guy.

Cool class. Cool guy kind of goes off on tangents...a lot. Don't buy book...if you need clarification go to his office hours. If you can work it out w/ someone have that person go 1 week & you go the other week & keep alternating...class is hard to sit in for that long...but you need the notes.

His class is so easy. You do have to study, and going to class helps a lot. Don't be one of those kids who e-mails everyone on blackboard and asks for notes, just go, it's a fun lecture. He jokes around a lot and his class could be so much shorter if he didn't, but he keeps you awake and his class is worth taking.
