Lecture slides provide little information relevant to test material; you have to listen and write down almost everything he says. Didn't even talk about the exam until 2 days before and he barely explained the test format. Test was all fill in blank and essay. Expects the class to be as knowledgeable as he is, which makes him intimidating.

This class was ridiculously hard. Exams were too long and no one would finish on time. Exams were open book, but do not rely on your book because you will not finish. Most of the class did not like the professor because he was really confusing with his expectations. We had in class assignments and students were expected to know what to do.

often there was not time to finish exams and he asked questions on the exam that did not seem to be as important as some of the other information we learned. Also the tests are open book trying to find information in all the tables to complete the test takes so long there isn't time for anything else.

Not clear. Contradicted himself frequently. Most students didn't know what he want. Went on tangents frequently that had little to do with the structure of the class. His exams are very long and don't always have the right information to complete them. Does little to fix his mistakes. Homework is time consuming and tedious.

I despise this class. I can't tell if I dislike Dr. Nelson or if I just hate this class SO much, that I think I dislike Dr. Nelson. Either way, one minute in this class feels like 40 minutes. Lectures are extremely boring. You have a "question of the day" every day for credit. Only way people pass the tests are because they have old exams. Ick.

Very confusing course, most of the assignments given are not thoroughly described at all. Get to know your TA you will be spending a lot of time in there office hours to get through this class with a good grade.

He recommended i take the class as a fairly new sophomore, and it was not a good decision, having not taking an economics, or the feeds and feeding classes, i was completely lost,and the diskette he had us use didn't help much.

His tests were a lot harder than I expected them to be, and often contained information that was not referred to on the study guide. That said, I was still able to walk out with a good grade because he was an easy grader. Mark knows the material and makes it interesting, but I don't recommend this course to someone who isn't proficient in bio.

Exams are RIDICULOUSLY hard - there was always stuff on there that I had never seen before...ever, anywhere. It's almost impossible to get 100% on hw. He simply cannot teach - very confusing, goes on tangents about unrelated things or things that aren't on the exam.
