This guy is petty and has a small man complex. Don't EVER "steal the thunder from his next topic" or you'll be left chasing your tail trying to figure out why he grades against correct answers on test. He's the department head of Econ so you have nobody to complain to. He is the reason I went to UCSD instead of UCLA.. Slash his tires if you can..

Worst professor ever, class is confusing his stupid online readiness assurance test does NOT help with anything, he knows about economics but does not know how to teach it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND taking ANY of his courses.

Professor Maier really cares about his students. He also takes his class seriously. This means that if you are not willing to actually put in the time to understand the class at a conceptual level you are not going to do as well as you think you might otherwise. I am fortunate to be very passionate about economics, and Prof. Maier taught me a lot.

The breakdown was 4 exams, 4 assignments, and quizzes that accompanied the online reading. It is VERY POSSIBLE to get an A in this class if you practice & review the study guide, however take another step and go to office hours because you'll find better insight for what he's looking for on the exams (kinda picky with your answers). Overall SOLID!

This guy doesnt teach at all. I got an A in his class by going to the SI sessions entirely. He was very unhelpful during office hours, and seems bothered when people show up. If you ask for clarification, he would just repeat what he just said. Who teaches like that? He seriously doesnt give a sh*t about his students.

Fortunate to have him at a CC. One of the best instructors I had @GCC. Truly prepares you and cares so much. You'll appreciate the standard he sets. Take his class and you will not struggle at a 4-year, trust me. These are such important building blocks in business, you owe it to people who work with you to learn as much as Mr. Maier teaches.

Getting an A depends on being consistent with his writing assignments which take a long time but if you explain it thoroughly, he will give you a good score. His lectures are okay. He lets you bring a flashcard to each test which helps you a lot and gives you a study guide. Worked hard to get an A. Don't expect it to be an easy A.

He's an okay teacher. If it were not for our SI classes, I don't know what I would have done. He really doesn't teach that well. Make sure you explain EVERYTHING on tests. Be careful with the weekly quizzes from readings. Those killed my grade. Use his office hours to try & get help on study guides, assignments, & test questions. Good luck!

The entire semester I had no idea what was going. He does not give directions clearly on the assignments! As for the tests, he gives you a study guide (thats basically the test) but finding the answers to the questions is hard. You have to be detailed and explain what you learned on it WHICH IS NOTHING! We need more time to review as a class.

Very knowledgable and passionate professor. I'd highly recommend taking him if you actually care about learning instead of getting an easy A. He's a very fair grader and as long as you do the reading and study, you can get and A on the assignments on tests.

If you want to learn economics, he will be the best professor you will have. However his exams are difficullt and points to get an A are even harder. I learned a lot from him, but I feel like he could be more fair when it comes about grading. My recommendation is that if you are planning to get an easy "A" don't take him. Ifyouwanttolearnthendoit

As an honor student I found this class a bit stressful compared to others, when asked for suggestions I dont think he really takes them into consideration. A majority of the class didnt understand as to why his grading was so tough, yet at the same time he doesn't want to give extra help. I had to keep my priority on this class the entire semeste

If you put in the time and effort, this class shouldn't be too difficult. I'm a business economics major but I went into the class knowing barely anything. His tests are 10 written questions but it's good so you can get partial credit on questions. His study guides are the key to success, if you can answer everything then you're good!

Seriously if you care about you grade dont take him, no extra credit no curving. All his test are in the forms of essays and he grades ridiculously hard. As a teacher you would expect him to care or help. He old school, and he has no mercy. If you take him get ready for ridiculous grading

Really enjoyable class! learned so much about economics from his lectures. If you're willing to learn and work hard then take him. Its a good experience. Get every point you can because he does not round. He gives reviews for exams and he's always available for office hours. Office hours were a must for me! Study hard and you can get an A!

I took 102H with him last semester and got an A, so I slacked off a bit at the beginning of this semester. I highly regretted that, and the damage is done... A B, it is what it is. That being said, I still appreciate him and the help he has given me.
