Mechelke is probably going to be one of the best teachers you come across. He genuinely cares about how his students are doing in the class and will go out of his way to make sure you understand. He gave many helpful practice exams, worksheets etc. His course book is very easy to understand compared to commercial ones. He also has a sense of humor

This guy is the best and most caring professor I know! He is so down to earth and willing to help anyone and everyone. He makes organic chem easy and he makes his own interactive notebook for students that makes studying easy. He will clearly say what to look for on exams. 4 exams and a comprehensive final. You will enjoy O Chem and that is hard.

Dr. Mechelke is the finest professor I've ever had at St Cloud State. He is incredibly supportive of his students and you can tell both by the way he talks to you, and the promptness in getting tests graded and back to you, that he absolutely loves his job. He goes above and beyond the standard a college professor should be, as he truly cares.

Dr. Mechelke is perhaps the most caring professor at St. Cloud State. If you are willing to work, he will do everything he can to help you understand the material. His lectures and interactive notes are fantastic, and are only around $30-$40 rather than an expensive textbook. Cannot emphasize enough how great this class is and how much I learned.

Extremely helpful; he will stay 2 hours after class/lab just to help you understand the material. Tends to curve or give you credit if you show your work. Attendance is not mandatory but it actually helps.

He cares about each student but will not tolerate any mistakes. Great as a person and professor but did not do as well as I thought I would. It seems as if it's easy in lecture but exams and homework are tough. Need to purchase his notes for class.

Dr. Mechelke is by far the best professor I have had at SCSU. He is smart and patient. He is very respected by students because he is a hard-working professor. Exams are very fair; there aren't any surprises. The homework is not bad and blue pages are extremely helpful. Take him if you actually want to learn ochem, not just memorize reactions.

I took this class with him rather than the other professor because I checked the rating, and I'm wondering whom are the specific people that keep rating him high because this professor was totally opposite of being nice. He was arrogant and not willing to help. his lectures are helpful, but you need to work really hard.

Dr. Mechelke absolutely loves what he does. He expects you to put work into the class, and in return he is more than willing to give honest feedback whenever possible. He replies to emails in a very timely manner, is not derogatory by any means, and he wants his students to succeed. He tells you what he expects, and is reasonable.

This is the first class that I've actually learned with at this school. He made me actually enjoy chemistry--and that's saying a lot, as I utterly despised it before meeting him. He is my favorite professor at this school and makes me want to change my major to chemistry.

He posts videos of his lectures in D2l, and attending the class lecture is also helpful, but if you ask for help he is not helpful. he is also arrogant, and make fun of some students, and talk about them on their back which is not professional.
