Good teacher. He is very enthusiastic about programming. Class may be a little unstructured (e.g. no text book), but he thoroughly covers examples in class. He may struggle reaching students that don't share his energy for programming, but does a great job of helping committed students.

He is a very knowledgeable teacher, and he will help you as long as you ask for it. Depending on the problem, he will either give you a straight-up answer(syntax-related), or lead you to your own solution(idea-related). As long as you attend class, you will understand the content. I've taken many classes with him, and intend on taking several more.

The lack of a textbook makes it very hard to keep up. He often assigns syntax in the programs that he has not taught. (I understand this is an effort to teach searching for your own solutions, but I found it increasingly frustrating.) I'm a straight A student and didn't miss a class. I spent hours on the homework and still didn't do well.

Tough teacher, but very knowledgable about the subject matter. Taken a number of classes with him. Expect to take a few more. Helps students by directing them to the problem areas, doesn't out-right tell the answer.

Took a couple classes with him. Nice guy and a decent teacher but I felt that he had certain favorites and was less helpful to others. I once failed an assignment despite my program being orders of magnitude more efficient when it didn't work internally the way he wanted. Go to class and do things how he says and you will be fine.

Very clear on his expectations on the assignments. Defined due-dates. However, his attitude was learn programming through experimentation. Does not have an academic slant but is very knowledgeable in the subject of Computer Programming.

He's a good teacher for people who already know how to program. If you're new to it and don't have a lot of experience DO NOT expect an A.Very unhelpful, don't believe the positive feedback he receives. 3/4 of the class dropped before we went half way. UNHELPFUL Not recommended, fast paced.

I have taken several classes with Mark over the years. It always turns out in the same manner. He is very pleasant. Yet, it is clear that he would rather help certain students more than others. I am not on the top of the list. I always felt as though I was a burden to him.

He seems like a genuinely nice guy, but he's just not the greatest teacher in the world. He comes to class unprepared and disorganized. He also taught the material in an unusual order, and he doesn't really reference the textbook at all. If you take a class from him, you will learn something, but don't expect much help if you get stuck.
