TAKE this instead of stats 119. you won't regret it. it's the same class but thayer is easy and funny and relates to the students because he's young at heart. He has some great stories and gives you some advice when it comes to gambling. he has a huge curve and only 2 hw assignments, quizzes (easy) every friday, and one midterm and final.

The material is hard, but the curving at the end makes it worth taking. You should take this class if you can as an alternative to stats 119 like the other person said.

If you have to take Stats 119 but you have this class as an alternative option, then TAKE THIS CLASS. Thayer makes it all but impossible to fail! He is super helpful if you go to his office. The exams are pretty much verbatim the practice exams. Two really easy homework assignments. I passed with an A. Definitely worth the 8am wake up!

grade was 5 tests and 5 quizes. prior semester had different grade structure. optional comprehensive final could replace lowest test score. no hw. not a boring class. very lenient grader. cool guy.

Pretty tough material. You have to do some studying from the book on your own because his lectures don't cover everything. His quizzes and exams are challenging. However, he is the one to take. He curves your grade at the end, and he is very flexible. Go to his office hours for homework. Should get an A in this class.

This class is better then Stat119! Thayer is a pretty cool prof. His practice tests are EXACTLY like the tests. there's 4 exams and the final is opt. 2HW assignments, are a lil confusing, but go into his office hrs and he tells the answers to them. He curves your final grade at the end.

continued... he threw everyone out of class due to a student sleeping. Also joked about EPA paying him huge $ for research. Jokes aside, he was a brilliant teacher. Without notes he would spew long formulas on the board while talking about something else, and then get passionate about "lambda". He increased my interest in the subject immensely.

Just found this site today. Took Dr. Thayer in 1990. He was by far the best prof I had during my years at SDSU. He used to joke about going to Vegas after class with his tax refund, and what NBA teams he was betting on. Seemed to be getting sick of teaching even back then though (he was dept. chair). Once he threw everyone out of class due to

Cool Teacher. His class is interesting. His quizzes are easy. He tells you exactly what is on the quiz. His tests are pretty hard. He gives out a study guide and pretty much everything you see on the study guide will be on the test. What makes his test hard are his wordings. He adds an extra element to the question, so it's very hard to get an A. H

Never makes any sense, tests are extremely hard, must be there everyday for points. directly after lecture, gives quiz on that material. involves personal life to much into curricullum. goes too fast to take notes
