Dr. Thistlethwaite is a great professor and truly cares about the material he teaches. The knowledge he has about art history is undeniable! Memorization is key for this course as the identifications on exams come exactly from the powerpoint slides. My only wish is that he could have taken roll. Watch out for pop writing assignments that he gives!

Thistlethwaite is passionate about his classes and is very clear on everything he teaches. Tests can be difficult for some at first but if you write down everything he says and review all image IDs you will be ok! He is also very clear on what he wants for tests and wants you to succeed in the class

Very Good Teacher, knows what he is talking about and is very helpful if you go and ask for help. This was a writing Emphasis class and if your looking for an easy one paper class, this is not it! You write 3 papers and a major paper. Very intense but worth it. Classes are not mandatory yet in class writing assignments are given.

I absolutely loved this guy and this class. He was so helpful and understanding. He has a passion for what he is teaching, and he is very knowledgeable. I mainly used the textbook for studying the pieces of art we needed to know for the tests (but there were occasional pop writing assignments over the readings).

Very nice professor, lectures interesting, he knows his stuff. Humorous at points. He gave us take home essay exams which were very easy to write. You will enjoy his classes.

Dr. Thistlethwaite knows what he's talking about. He has pretty high standards, but he'll go out of his way to help you understand. His lectures are interesting, and he's really big on getting out to the museums to learn. His classes are always enjoyable...but his Writing Emphasis classes are crazy intense.

Lots of slides to remember, and very few are we tested over. Nice guy though, strong lecturer. Not that hard of a grader, lots of extra credit opportunities. One short paper. I learned alot. Take him for an intro course!

Hard class but great. Definitely expects a lot from the students in the papers and tests. Got a C on the first test and still pulled an A. He rocks.
