Professor Toma is an awesome professor. Lectures are very straightforward and there is a lot of reading. If you go to class and do all the assigned readings, an A is definitely achievable. Two tests, an essay, and a debate are all that is graded.

Toma is one of the best professors UK has to offer. People complained about how hard he was, but I thought the class was fairly straightforward. He also seems to be into Austrian economics, so I'd definitely recommend him if that's your thing.

Toma is a great guy. He presents a lot of Austrian economics, which I agree with tremendously. However, his tests are tricky. Textbook is free, online, and not really necessary. Not too much work besides the three tests. Not an extremely easy class to get an A, but a B is more than doable and little work is required. He's very enthusiastic as well.

Average professor. The material isn't too difficult and some is interesting. 3 exams, each question is worth 1% of your total grade. Exams can be difficult, some questions can be tricky. He's very into the material and some scenarios are down right loony. Class was okay, but I would have chosen a different professors if I could do it over again.

No book, gives extra credit about every other week with WSJ articles. Not a hard class if you go, and Toma defiantly knows what hees talking about. but he does try to trick you on the tests so study well. he gives you practice queations before the test so study those, but dont expect them to be on the test. Easy low B to C. Hard A

I really enjoy the class.Dr. Toma is a great professor. There are 3 exams which are crazy hard!Definitely have to attend class since there is no textbook. He does give extra credit weekly by reading the WSJ.The class will help you expand your mind and thought process (he teaches you the concepts, but for the tests, you have to reason & use logic)

I really enjoyed his Monetary Econ class, probably my favorite class at UK. He was really excited about what he was teaching and kept class interesting by not being so "normal"

Very passionate about the material. He likes to talk a lot about theoretical scenarios. He's pretty into Hayek and Rothbard which some people will think is a bit extreme. Tests are hard with some confusing questions. Ask questions and read everything he assigns.

He gets really excited, which keeps you interested. He talks about the subject in a way which makes it easy to understand. Honestly, his tests are pretty hard (a bit tricky too) but an A is certainly obtainable if you study the material and attend every class.

Absolutely avoid this weirdo. If you have to take this class, find a different teacher even if it means taking it at 8:00am. Listening to this loser stutter about radical economic theories and then getting mislead by intentionally tricky test questions makes this one of the worst classes I have taken in my entire life.

Absolutely horrible. It's one thing to earn a C in a class that's just plain hard, but the reason I'm getting a C is because the tests are intentionally tricky and there's no real concrete textbook to study from. The class feels disorganized, and I feel helpless in trying to figure out what to know from the scattered study materials provided.

Loved this class. He was extremely funny and helpful. The man is so charismatic about the topic that its is hard not to get wrapped up in it w/him. Toma defiantly keep me awake in a class that otherwise I would have slept right through! I will def take him again.

Man, Toma is the worst. He speaks too loud and will sometimes shout in his lectures. Really hyper. Sets up the most ridiculous scenarios of you living on Mars (WTF). Makes you sign up for the Wall Street Journal and creates the most trivial exam questions from articles. Most unconventional. Unfair grading system. If possible, avoid him!

Very difficult class. You only have two tests and a final. Each question on each test is worth 1% of your grade. Those are some pretty high stakes. I got the second highest grade in the class on the first test, and the highest grade on the second test...and may STILL get a B! How does that work???

Concepts from book aren't difficult, but others are. The difficulty is the ambiguity of his language in lecture, handouts and exams. I agree with the title "The Riddler." Prep for exams is the most difficult; grade consists of 3 exams with 30 questions ea multiple choice. Final is weighted heaviest.

This guy is way out there. He's got all kinds of wacky theories. Take him if you want to find out how the business cycle doesn't exist so therefore the government should never intervene in the economy. Bizarre. But I guess it is econ so what do you expect
