Ackmann is the sort of professor that reminds you why you go to MHC. She respects her students so much, and she would rather have a class discussion with us than lecture at us. Her passion constantly shines through. I can't say enough good things about her. Take her ED seminar; it will change you.

Professor Ackman taught me not only to love our most famous dropout but also to think critically about how we view ED's life and influence. This is a class that I brag about--not many students have the chance to learn about the Belle of Amherst in her own house! Even if you don't like poetry I recommend the class.

I love her class "Emily Dickinson In Her Times"!!! It is my favorite class so far! She is so passionate and dedicated to Emily Dickinson, it almost seems as if she knew her. This course helped me explore my own imagination, and develop skills for close reading. Not to mention this class is taught at the Dickinson museum! Amazing:)

Not sure if she teaches her class on Emily Dickinson, but by far my all time favorite class. You study Dickinson from historical/literary/women's study/political viewpoints. Ackman brings you to Dickinson's home/the archives in Amherst/and many other field trips that bring you into Dickinson's world. Ackman is amazing, take this class.
