this class was the most difficult course i have ever taken. she tried to cover way too much material and because of it we all ended up learning nothing. she was not helpful at all with questions. her tests were very specific and overall unreasonable.

I love Dr. Case! She was very helpful and accommodating for all of my questions (and I had a lot). She had a new policy of extra credit quizzes after every class period that were extremely nice for understanding and reviewing the material. The TAs were also great. My only warning is to beware her tricky multiple choice questions on exams!

Professor Case is a very nice woman and her lectures are easy to follow and self-explanatory. Her tests however, focus more on memorization of facts (is knowing that microsporidia are a group of plant pathogenic fungi lacking mitochondria really that important in the whole scheme of botany?) than actual understanding and synthesis of the material

Enthusiastic teacher however she consistently goes off on tangents. Focuses on minor details, disorganized lectures, MC and true/false heavy exams. She has difficulty communicating ideas in a logical manner and skips around the botany world. Do not recommend

She is an enthusiastic teacher. However, you can go to every class, read the book, and study days before a test, and still fail. Her tests do not reflect how the biology department teaches as a whole, and they are based on minor details instead of thematic elements of the course.

I had her for Botany and now Im with her in Vascular plant systematics. Great teacher with tons of experience. very willing to help students outside of class and VERY enthusiastic. You will love going to her classes because her lectures are incredibly interesting and she has a theatrical way of teaching that is very captivating.

Hands down the worst professor. You can get an A (I did) but you will have to teach yourself all of the material and God help you because her lectures are useless, the book is useless, the lab is useless, she's intentionally unhelpful outside of class, and could not write a fair/decent multiple choice test if her life depended on it. Nightmare.

Can sometimes be a little dry and esoteric, but clearly enthusiastic about the subject and lectures are typically interesting. Class is difficult and covers a lot of ground, but the intro bio classes are weed-out classes, so don't expect less. Helpful outside of class. Overall, great prof.

Case was enthusiastic about botany and conveyed the material well to the students. But her tests did not in any way reflect the emphasis she made in class. I studied the material from lecture, powerpoints and book for days before exams and still was frustrated and confused when taking them

Botany was the most frustrating class I ever took. I worked incredibly hard just to get a B. She does not care about her students, just about making sure there is a perfect bell curve which means no more than 5 kids got an A in her class. Only take if you have to.

After all of the horror stories, I came into botany expecting it to be awful. Instead, it was the most straightforward class I've taken in the Biology department so far, and I found myself really enjoying the material. Things went down hill when Case had to leave for a family emergency, though. I really missed her enthusiasm and teaching style.

class spent time on details without fitting into the largerpicture -so so lecturer hard tests with a great deal of detail again making it difficult to see the larger framework- and professor didn't prepare class well for the tests or show a concern with poor class results take this class if you must- but won't enlarge or mai

Professor Case was implacable, she did noy curve anything, even when most of the class did poorly. She gives out only 5 As, and you have to work very hard to even get a B. Her tests do not test on true knowlege of Botany or overarching ideas, rather they test your ability to recall trivia. Do not take this calss unless you need it for your major

Systematics with Dr. Case was a really good class that expanded my bio knowledge well beyond what one would expect from a plant systematics class. The lab had a bit much in memorization but the lecture was extremely good and she was always extremely helpful. Recommended if you have an interest in plants and want to expand your general bio knowledge

Case was extremely enthusiastic about botany, an excellent lecturer, and picked quite a few good videos for us to watch. She was understanding and helpful outside of class, and more than willing to take time out just to chat with you about the class or give advice. Tests were extremely difficult, but contrary to common belief, she did cover it all.

The lectures are pretty easy to sit through but the tests and quizzes are extremely hard. Yeah she is very enthusiastic, but asks the most random questions and DOES NOT CURVE.
