ALL of the short stories used were from the New Yorker, involved substance abuse, domestic violence, mental health issues, or seriously weird and/or disgusting sexual encounters and addiction. What little feedback I received, I received towards the end of the term, which is too little, too late in regards to grades.

He was late getting back our essays. And I'm talking like he waited til the last minute to grade everything and then gave us a few days to correct some papers. It was very frustrating. I did not like his class at all.

Do not take his online course. Terrible feedback. There were 4 papers for this class-- I received one back sometime in October and the other 3 back 3 DAYS BEFORE THE CLASS WAS OVER. I did not learn anything and could not improve because of his lack of feedback. Online clas should not be offered under this professor.

Much better teacher in person than online. He is funny and tends to talk off topic. Content of the course is a little challenging however and you must turn in 20 one page papers by the end of the course.

Took an online class of his that was just awful. Took him almost three weeks to find out what grade I received on a paper. He also sent back insulting comments on my paper. I sent him an email with a question and was never emailed back. Tollerable class but would try to avoid having the teacher.

This professor gave his feedback for your writings way after you had turned them in, and when you only had one assignment left to write. I was motivated to take the course. Took him forever to upload materials, and sometimes there were pages missing/pages cut off of the bottom. Don't take him online- won't get any feedback.

Miserable, only word for it. This was an online class. He did not respond to my email for over TWO WEEKS. He only returned one of my three papers. I have no idea of my grade on the others, because he still hasn't returned my email!!!

I loved how the class was online and how the topic was on Australia. We had to do 5 papers total (3 were 6 pages long and 2 were less than 6 pgs). Like I said, I loved the topic, but I didn't like the professor. He only graded one paper and never returned the others. He also didn't respond to some e-mails. In the end, I got an "A" for the course.

Online class required 8 large papers. In the end, I only got 1 back with a couple sentences of critiques at the bottom. I had no idea how I was doing in the class. I was incredibly upset about the amount of work I put into the class and the apparently very little that he put in. Worst/Least satisfying A I have ever earned.

The class is not very difficult, it is just the motivation to actually do it that is rough. If you do the work you'll be fine. To be warned though, I was bored out of my mind both quarters I had him. He thinks of himself as hilarious, and that is the reason for laughing. Overall, not bad, but not great.

I took this class online. Our grade consisted of 8 papers at least 4 pages long + a works cited. Extra credit is worth an extra 20%. You should get an A if you do the work and extra credit. Be warned though, it is a lot of work! Take this online version because there is no service learning outside of class like taking UH 201 on the Main Campus.

Dr. Kich has a personality all his own. (I'd recommend taking a class with him just because of that.) He's fun, wacky, and he loves literature. Plus, he always has some sort of pop culture reference or personal anecdote to go along with texts or films. If you go to class, do the work, and study/write papers you will do fine. He's great!
