The ones who love him are blinded by his confidence. He is abusive, uncommunicative, and absurd. Rather than teach using words he prefers to pit students against one another. this may be a good way for some to learn but not for me. He treated me like crap and then in the end complimented my work and apologized. HA! still not forgiven.

First Semester is all about mind games but there are fascinating ideas presented. The doctrine he preaches is bunk, as shown by his own horrible work, but his students do learn a ton simply by having to jump thru his absurd hoops week by week. You will learn a lot because he makes you work look and think!Take the class, don't become his disciple.

Fantastic, challenging, fast paced, unique approach starting w. basics, building up to complex/advanced study of not only color but also texture, movement & other elements impacting overall impression of objects. insecure students hate his critiquing style, but get over urself cuz ure blocking ur own learning process. he very much cares 4 students.

Take this professor if you care about design. He is completely insane and difficult but offers a challenge unlike any other professor. He will make you question everything you've ever learned. His class discussions help not only to build competent designers, but intelligent people.

Martin is the one that you will never forget. First impression - freak. Once you know him you ether love him or hate him. ONE OF THE BEST DESIGN TEACHERS PRATT HAS TO OFFER TO DATE. His classes for those that mean business. Party animals and freeloaders usually hate him with passion.

Interesting character and great coach. See, he doesn't really teach, he coaches and it seems convoluted, but it works... He gets results. He's blunt and gruff but it's probably a facade and he seems to really care about his students (it reflects on him and he REALLy cares about that). If you want to bust your ass and get better, go for it.

Be prepared to work hard, your drawing will improve immensely. Martin has high expectations, doesn't waste energy on students who don't apply themselves or take school seriously. On the other hand, he invests his time and energy into the students who are serious, pushes them to learn. Moody. Either you love him or hate him. I love him.

This guy is mother f-ing crazy, He will mess with your head, ignore you, pick on you, and drive you to the edge. When you finish the class you are suddenly "awesome" at drawing, and then three year later as you sit and fondle yourself while watching Waker texas ranger you look up and say, "Wow, now i get it" and it all makes sense. GET IN THIS CLASS, GET THROUGH IT, IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!!

Worst teacher I've ever had. He forces students to emulate his visual style. I took this class 5 years ago, but I'm sure his teaching method has not changed. I would never ever ever use his style in my professional life.
