Nice guy. He speaks quickly so it can be hard to keep up while taking notes. Buy a text-book to help keep up. There wasn't that much work and our entire grade was based on three exams. Exams are in essay form and are very demanding so go in depth. He is politically biased and hates on Bush.

I've had 3 classes with distinguished faculty, and Swartz blows them all away. He respects students a great deal, has a tremendous sense of humor, and can generate remarkable answers to any questions you may have. If you think you can write a great history paper, take a class with Swartz, and learn to write a better one.

Very interesting lectures. Keeps your attention. Lectures off the top of his head, keeps the story going, and is very comical. No textbook, but assigned readings on literary work. Hard expectations on essay exams, but it gets easier once you realize what he is looking for.
