Comment:

My biggest gripe with Liedman was her rudeness. You wont actually learn anything but she acts like shes teaching you rocket science. Very condescending, and dont bother trying to ask her for clarification on anything, chances are she doesnt know herself. The class itself wasnt horrendous, and I made friends, but Liedman made it pretty bad

Scatter-brained, not clear on grading criteria in the slightest, and she has a huge ego to boot. Also, if your answer to ANY of the questions you're asked is, "Google is your best friend", then why am I wasting time, money, and brain cells in this class? Oh, right, because as my advisor, she told me to take it. I'm asking for a new advisor ASAP.

I do think people judge her too harshly. She's tough, but if you pay attention and put in the effort she will appreciate you and get to know you. She is definitely someone to have on your side. She may come off as harsh but she honestly just really cares for her students and wants them all to go amazing places. Have patience and you'll be fine.

Leidman is a tricky one... She is a great person to have on your side. Get on her good side and she'll do absolutely anything in her power to make you go places and she'll do anything for you. You definitely have to pay attention because she is a bit scatter-brained, but overall she's definitely an entertaining professor.

She's an ok teacher. Her patience level is low. She doesn't tolerate lateness so show up on time. You will absolutely use the text book because you must complete chapter notes on every chapter to be collected. Tests based on chapters are open notes. You write ALOT in this class. She doesnt actually read your work, just skims it.

I have never had a professor that I learned so much from than Dr. Leidman. Yea the class is a lot of work, but trust me it is worth it and this woman KNOWS what she is talking about, if you ever have the opportunity to take her do it!!! You will learn so much

Very strict. Will confiscate cell phone. A LOT OF WRITING esp. to be a non writing intensive class. prepare yourself to hear the same jokes and stories over the semester. talks about self a LOT. doesn't know how to work comm equipment but works in comm dept. expect syllabus to change & 2 have no actual guideline 4 assignments. skip if u can!!

Extreme amount of writing, especially for a non-writing intensive course. Unless you're interested in television, do not take this class. If you are interested in TV and you can survive the work, the class is very enjoyable and you learn so much about the medium.

I've had this teacher for the past year & i absolutely love her. many people dont because they simply dont pay attention in class & listen to what the assignments are... even though they are listed within the sylabus! She is extremely helpful & knowledgable, i would definitely recommend taking her for at least one class while at iup!!!

sweetest professor, she is tough, but she knows what she is talking about. also has a very caring side, if youre nice to her, shes nice to you.. very simple. the semester paper/radio stations paper is a bit much, but she gives you a couple months to work on it, so dont put it off. very fun class, would def. take more classes from her.

Very misunderstood. At the bottom of it all, she is one of the more caring professors around. If you goof around, she will give it right back so dont complain. You will not forget what you learned, but mostly because you will write about it a lot. If you want to learn and not get an easy A, she is good. Besides, her classes are fun.
