the first day you are going to walk in and be so happy with your choice to take this class because she really is one of the sweetest and most amazing individuals I have ever met. With that being said, this class was stupidly difficult for being an elective. We had a GroupMe for the first test and 17/32 people failed the first test. Don't do it.

Seems to think she can grade her exams more harshly than physics, math and other classes of similar difficulty(She didn't give partial credit, something EVERY OTHER professor does) . Without a doubt the worst class I have ever taken.

Was a super nice teacher, which makes it so hard for me to write that I wouldnt take her again. The class is only 100 points and about 70 were made up of 3 tests that were kind of ridiculous. Tests are just 7 vocal fill in the blank and 4 essay questions. She graded hard and was rarely here, which made it difficult. She did curve at the end though

Anth department is better with Brody in it. But, she was gone a lot this semester due to conferences and trials, so the structure of this class was ALL over. The syllabus had to be changed more than underwear. Not totes her fault, though, and she did work with us. The class is books, films, and paper reviews. That's it. Easy and fun, yay Maya!

This class was uncharacteristically difficult for a 1000 level course. Dr. Brody only gives 5 opportunities for points, 3 of which are after the drop date. Test are too short and specific for amount of material covered: 11 questions for 4-5 chapters. Prof missed a lot of class, wasn't clear on material, do not take if you can avoid it.

Dr. Brody is an amazing professor. Although her tests are tough, if you go to class and pay attention, they are not an issue. This semester she did miss a lot of class though. Despite that, she is an amazing professor who honestly cares about her students and their success.

Dr. Brody is really nice in class and makes you believe she wants you to succeed in her class until you take her first exam. She is a super tough grader and gives no tips on how to succeed on her tests. Her lectures are nice because she truly does know so much about anthropology, but she is hardly ever in class to give these lectures.

She is an amazing anthropologist and has done a lot of fieldwork. However, her 1000 level course is hard. The readings are easy, she lectures from powerpoint, which tends to be not useful for her tests. Her tests are extremely hard specially for a 1000 level course.

Mary Brody is a very engaging and fun professor. HOWEVER, she only has 5 grades for the whole semester; two are projects and three are tests. No matter how hard anyone in my class studied, everyone failed. We took a poll and 24 people made F's and 4 people made A's. Grading is SUPER HARD. You probably won't make an A.

She is an great anthropologists and her lectures are nice. The homework is reading of the chapters and anthropological example readings. Class is very test heavy with 2 accompanying projects which are easy grades. Test are difficult for a 1000 level course, no multiple choice. She speaks an small known language so was out a lot for that.

You can tell Brody really cares about her students. 3 exams worth 15 pts each,4-5 essay questions that you pick out of 8-10. Assignments were fun, each worth different amounts. Research paper was 15 pts. Only thing I didn't like(I think this was the first time she did it)were the daily quizzes. Worth 25 pts, which is a fourth of entire grade.

Dr Brody is really nice and an intelligent woman. She's usually an easy grader as long as you follow instructions, but her grading system is pretty cutthroat (100 points total, which means you can only lose 10 points before you lose the A). You don't necessarily have to read the articles, but don't solely depend on the powerpoints for notes.

In class she seems really nice, but things change once it's time for her to grade your assignments and tests. On what should be easy homework assignments, she will find a way to take points off. Her tests are 4 essay questions and the grading is subjective and inconsistent.

ANTH 3060 with Dr. Brody is fun, but it isn't easy! She makes you work hard for your grade; there's only 100 pts for the entire class (meaning you can only 10 pts before its a B). Three exams: she gives you 8-10 questions and you pick 4. You write as much as you know about the question, and if you miss something she will take off for it.

Dr. Brody can be all over the place during lectures, and isn't really clear on definitions, but she's passionate about her work and cares about her students. I never read the textbook, attended all lectures (though I wasn't always paying attention), and still made a good grade. She focuses a lot on vocabulary for tests, but there are only 3.

Dr. Brody was one of my favorite professors during the fall semester. She was very helpful, in class and out of class. There's a decentusual amount of coursework. If you read the book and go to all of the lectures, it CAN be pretty repetitive. I read all of the chapters and attended all of the lectures and I got an A no problem.

Horrible tests. Did not match the lecture material and were graded very harshly. Was graded on a "good answer" to "great answer" scale which was bs. Even if you had all of them right you may only get a high c or low b.
