Comment:
Mary is great at guiding you into your thesis. Extremely practical as it gets you to do a group research project. She is kind and knowledgeable. Class and labs are boring/easy but worth it because the work load is minimal given it is an honours thesis class. Would highly recommend her for the honours seminar

Comment:
Having Dr. Gick as a prof was traumatic. The grading criteria was not clear, her feedback was often irrelevant or contradictory, and she had poor communication with the TA leading to constant confusion. Very disrespectful and condescending. She was of very little help when it came to the online research program, nor SPSS. However, I did learn a lot

Comment:
Mary Gick is a very boring professor and just reads everything off of the slides. Going to lectures is a waste of time. You basically just have to read the textbook, so I would say it is mandatory. On the bright side there is no final exam. I highly recommend avoiding courses taught by Mary Gick. Ended up with a B+ in the course.

Worst and most condescending professor I've had in awhile, and I've had some pretty bad ones.

The worst prof I have had at carleton so far. In the first lecture she told us that the tests are entirely based on the textbook so there is no need to come to class. She just reads off her slides and they are taken right out of the textbook. It took her more than two weeks to give grades even though the tests are Scantron.

The class itself is not to hard the context is pretty easy to understand. However I found many of her exam questions unclear. Basically read the textbook if you want a good mark in her class power points we not very useful.

Very Helpful, prepares you for thesis. Guides you instead of telling you. Really liked that research proposal draft due a month in advance, she's not critical but yes, detail-oriented. Plenty of time to edit/correct it. Let's be honest, if you get into this class, it's pretty much expected that you work. Choose your group wisely!

Fairly clear teaching - all the notes are on the web, which is nice for those of us who are lazy. High expectations, but a fair marker.
