i would prefer gilbert gottfried yelling in my ear for a few hours a week over going to her lectures. went to meet her for discussion about my paper where she talked AT me for 20 minutes. treats students like children, is extremely unhelpful - even over email (had a few unfortunate exchanges with her)

I do agree that her greading is pretty hard, but Mackinnon is one of the kindest and most helpfull professors in Mcgill. You can go to her for anything, be it not understanding some of the readings, or not having an idea about what to write in your essay..+her lectures are very clear and the class as a whole is very insightfull and teaches you alot

Absolute WORST PROF EVER! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! This is supposed to be an Econ class, and instead it felt like a bad story-telling lecture. She is extremely boring, laughs at her own miserable jokes, and what she says has absolutely no substance. As for her grading, very aggressive as someone said. FIRE HER!

I've never had to drop a class but I couldn't stand another second with this woman. Her voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard and she is incredibly dull. RUN AWAY FROM THIS CLASS. Spawn of satan pretty much sums up this prof. hmmm kayyy! Those who've taken this class know what i'm talking about!

If Prof. MacKinnon is bitter, it is because she is surrounded by snivelling, self-glorifying, apathetic bores, i.e. you guys. She happens to be a rarity at McGill -- a professor who gives a damn about her class. If her students put in even half the effort that she did, they might have less reason to be so bitter and vindictive themselves.

Pat sucks as a teacher. Sorry to say, but she is the worst teacher I've ever had the misfortune to run across. She's mean, vindictive and, quite frankly, she doesn't know her subject that well. RUN AWAY if you see this woman's name on a course.

She is the most aggressive and condescending marker I have EVER seen in my 20 or so years of studying. It is really too bad because her courses are not that bad but grading wise, she will kill your papers, kill your attempts to make comments, and surely kill your initial interest for the course...

it's pat! on a more serious note, she has no control over the volume or tone of her voice - furthermore, McGill should get her a TA to help her with the overhead projector...which she struggled with daily. i also enjoyed the puffy shirt.

Really great teacher! Probably the best course. Lectures are interesting and incredibly well prepared. Puts a lot of effort into the course and it shows. Paper is amazingly well-planned. Grades a little strictly but fairly anyway. Very highly recommended.
