I learned a lot from this class. Prof Barakso is pleasant and knowledgeable, with plenty of real-world experience to back up her academics...I felt that she valued effort from students more than genuine comprehension or insight and she always encouraged students, even when they were dead wrong in their assumptions or comprehension. This is a fault!

Professor Barakso is one of my favorite professors at AU! She is easy to relate to and incredibly intelligent. Any criticism she gives is likely because she really wants to see her students succeed. She is a very fair grader and her classes don't require more work than any others at AU. Take her courses!

Before you graduation from AU please take Barakso at least once, even if you are not an SPA kid. She conducts her class well and makes political science fun. If you put in an hour of studying the day before quizzes the class is a guarenteed A.

Complete lack of confidence at the upper teaching levels means there's no structure. Very sensitive to criticism. Spent the first 15 mins of class talking asking how well she was conducting the course. She does try hard to keep her political opinions to herself, but discerning students will know.

I love this lady! She makes me happy I'm a political science major. Her tests are open note and have study guide questions to go along. I had heard that this professor was hard but thats not true at all. She cares about the students a lot!

I have no idea how anyone could consider her to be biased. For over 3 months I've been trying to figure out her political orientation and I have no idea. I found her to be exceptionally professional and insightful. Although I did get rocked on her tests a bit, I would highly recommend this class.

Prof. Barakso actually expects us to be college students, not elementary students. Makes us think, but in really interesting ways. She's really helpful outside of class, and genuinely seems to want us to get it. How many can you say that about? Definitely recommended, but not for slackers.

Barakso is one of the nicest people, but not such a great professor if you are expecting an easy gen ed class. She expects a lot and grades pretty hard. About an hour of reading a night to keep up, and tests are open notebook so notes are reccommended.
