Comment:

You will get an A, but you will also have no idea what you're supposed to be doing, when things are due, etc. I feel bad, he is a nice guy, but his grading makes no sense, he never answers emails, and this class being four hours is exhausting with him. This class is also a TON of work, not challenging, but overwhelming at times.

I feel really bad for Maurer. I know he means well, but he's not a good teacher. He's not organized and is just really awkward. He's always saying and doing things that makes the class really uncomfortable. Please don't take a class with him.

He is a very nice individual, however not the best at teaching. He doesn't explain material clearly or concisely and is very vague on expectations. This class is a very boring and long 3 hour class and staring at a computer screen at 9 am for that long is not fun.

Dr. Maurer is a goofy guy. He wears his emotions on his sleeve (will laugh so loud, cry in class, and openly express frustration with education systems)Sometimes he isn't really clear and it is hard to follow him but he has a great heart. His class isn't anything amazing or terrible-- just pretty average.

This is literally the most boring class I have ever taken here at Butler. Luckily Prof. Garriott co-taught so it wasn't as awful as it could've been with just Maurer. He literally goes on and on about things that don't even matter. Sure he's passionate about stuff, but I just want to get out of class on time!

Literally the worst teacher I have ever had. I showed up to every class and participated every day and he still did not know my name by the end of the semester. Emailed him many different times during the semester with questions and did not once get a response back. Also never knew what our grades were. I do not know why he is a teacher.

Maurer is an interesting guy. The class is COMPLETELY pointless. It's required though. It's easy enough to get a good grade--no real due dates for assignments--but he's often really unclear. You basically need to be ok with teaching yourself the stuff you need to know. He's an entertaining guy though--thinks he's hilarious.

This class was horrible.He will begin telling you what to do then go to something else making it difficult to get an answer out of him. He'd play youtube music videos on the large screens while we were working on an assignment. The assignments were then incredibly detailed but not very worth while. Worst class so far.

Nice guy and great teacher but he is loud and he does tell lame but funny jokes. Try not to take his class early in the morning because staring at a computer screen for 3hrs at 8am is not what you want to do... trust me.

The class is far too long. We spend 2.5 hours going over material that could be covered in 1. Other than that he is probably one of the easiest professors ever. The assignments have no actual due date and turn them in early enough he will allow you to re-do them for any points you may have missed. Be aware that he can be boring and corny at times.

this class is torture!! its 2.5 hours long of absolutely nothing!! huge waste of time and money, buuut you have to take it! bring your computer to class so you can get on facebook or whatever while he is talking, he doesn't care. it's super easy though, just pointless :(

This is hands down the worst education class at Butler. It's a waste of money and time but required. He takes no interest in you as a student and was in no way helpful to me. He has been impossible to work with when I contacted him about my grade.
