I am in love with the ISUCF"V"MB. Best decision of my life. Everyone is amazing, and Smitty is a great director. He makes marching band a blast, but is serious when he needs to be. I also was in Pep Band and Symphonic Band with him, both of which are just as great. If you get a chance to do band, do it. I promise you won't regret it. :)

I have known him since 10th grade and he's an amazing director. The ISUCF'V'MB is one of the coolest experiences in my life and Mr. Smith facilitates it well, working hard and having fun with it. Most of the complaints are from those who are just angry they can't drink before performances now. Pep band rocks too. Do as much band as you can, please.

Smitty is the best professor I have had and I've been to 3 colleges so far. Marching band is a lot of work but Smith has this way of making everyone excited about running around in the mud. The best experience I've had. Ever. Take any class from him, he is a great guy, a great teacher (and he has some pretty funny jokes):D

Absolute the best teacher I have had here at Iowa State. Yes, marching band is a lot more hard work than what anyone would ever think of and we put in more time than most classes do, but is an absolute blast. He is very good on explaining things to you and making you feel that you are someone in the band.
