Interesting lectures and perspective. The class is never boring. You can tell he's passionate about his work. We do weekly blackboard posts and around 3 essays for the semester. The only part I'm not fond of is that he makes you present your final essay to the class.

Professor Burgess is amazing! He's so passionate about his subject and really transmits that excitement to his students. He's a fair grader, and just such an amazing teacher- I really learned so much from his class. Def take him if you can!! I honestly cannot recommend him enough

One of a kind professor, but you have to earn a good grade. That said, I absolutely loved his class and found him to be an inspirational person. His love of knowledge and devotion to excellence are contagious. Much of what I learned I will take with me beyond this class. He's always there to help so don't be a stranger to his office hours.

Hands down best English professor ever taken in my life. Doesn't ask for a crazy amount of work and in return gives you a semester of true reflection and interesting classes. This class will help with future writing in any classes and Burgess is an absolute must take

One of the best Professors! loves what he does and has knows his stuff. He actually teaches how to write a research paper and guides you through the process. We did a lot of free-writes and participation is encouraged. very friendly and pretty funny too.

Nice enough in the beginning, but when it comes towards writing the final research paper, he becomes sorta useless. Does not look to make it too easy, expects a lot of work, being that this is a required core. He's alright, but if you are looking to have an easy time fulfilling core requirements, shop around for someone easier.

its a nice class, laid back, and you can free write poems for extra credit! a bit of work, but thats any english class. oh and he is also extremely good looking ;)
