Comment:
Mizenko gives a lot of long lectures but has a great sense of humor and understands that not everyone does the assigned readings. Most of the reading is optional and for people who are really interested in the material. He's a great guy who loves what he teaches and loves to see the students get into the material as well.

He means well, and his classes can be exciting, but his enthusiasm for the material is often impenetrable for non-EAS majors and his lack of organization is eventually wearisome for all.

Brings his whole self and whole heart to the classroom every day. Passionate about culture, Japan, and burlap, Mizenko selects fascinating media--visual to film to literature--and invites deep and full discussion of emergent topics. He acknowledges his students as individuals and is as open-minded as they come. Ask him about Mujou.

He's so funny, and I'm an East Asian Studies major, so I love that he tells us Japanese words even in the middle of CIE.

An eclectic fellow who usually seems to have taken more meds. than he really needs. Still, he makes class fun, and despite his mannerisms, you somehow manage to learn quite a fair sum. Good professor, I recommend him for Japanese.

He's a character, to be sure. Enthusiastic and with an odd sense of humor. He gives frequent quizzes and a fair amount of homework, but my god do you ever LEARN. It's great.

He is all about making you fluent in Japanese, but it gets annoying after a while. If you want an easy course take Iwokamo. Also, Mizenko gives out more homework and alot more tests/quizes
