I took this class way back in 2003 and *loved* it. He helped me to think critically and taught clearly and logically. One of my favorite Psych classes, and it was a great foundation for the ones that followed. Very smart, funny, and a great teacher.

Explains things very clearly. Your assignments and tests are all take home essays, and easy to do well if you go to class, listen, and unfortunately, reading the book makes this class a ton easier, even though we all want to get away without it.

Spackman was the best professor I had all semester. I thought it was strange at first that a Psychology professor was teaching a BOM class but he made it enjoyable. His teaching method is very clear and lectures are interesting. I very much recommend him.

I wasn't too excited about the material and the textbook is ridiculous, but Spackman is a great professor and helps you understand it. Also, he integrates movie clips and such.

Spackman is the man. He made this topic very interesting and made all of us think for ourselves. The reading is dull but he applied to to daily life. Love this class. Love philsophy/psychology.

When I heard that Stats was required for my major I was not happy. Spackman was great, his class lectures are very organized and very helpful. I learned so much and was able to pass with an A! I highly recommend this professor!

Class was harder than it had to be. Mainly because of this HORRIBLE textbook we had to endure (Robinson's Intellectual History of Psych.) Teacher was clear in lecture though, and the test questions weren't too difficult, but he graded a little hard on essays. A bit of a mixed bag.

This class deals with a lot of difficult concepts and theories but spackman does a great job at explaining them. The textbook is a hard read but if you do the reading guides they help you glean most of the information you need for the quizzes. Go to class and stay on top of the readings and you should be fine

AMAZING teacher. He inspires me. His lectures are very well planned, very well thought out and really worth going to. He is somewhat difficult. There's a weekly quiz, that's really directly off the study guide. The tests....there are four I beleive. Two take home essay tests (but closed notes, closed book) and two multiple choice tests.

Pretty good teacher. You really need to keep up on the material. Definitely doable but you have to study HARD for his tests. The 10 quizzes and two papers are easier.

put a good amount of effort into your work and it's pretty easy to pass. at first the concepts and history are hard to take in all at once, but spackman does a great job at making it clear. plus, the lectures are really interesting. i highly recommend taking this course, whether you're a psych major or not.

Good class. Think I got around an A- or B (haven't been graded yet). Interesting, useful class. He knows his stuff. Not hard either. I bet you can get away without buying the book as I skimmed it. He also spends time teaching how this class is useful in the real world and has people talk about their jobs based on this class.

Relatively laid back class - only 2 midterms, a final, and a 10-page paper. Material was interesting and had the occassional not-graded group presentations.

Dr. Spackman really knows what he is talking about! He's very intelligent. His lectures can seem long but he uses some humor and has really good clips and examples. When testing time comes, he expects you to know your stuff inside and out. So, tests are on the hard side. We have reading quizzes and as long as you do the reading, you'll be fine.
