A really great person, but I don't learn well from her teaching style. Class is based on discussion of the readings with no lecture and notes are nearly impossible to take, which was a big challenge for me. Every topic is exceptionally vague with no clear criteria, or answer, and she marks very harshly. If you learn by discussion you'll be fine

She is a laid back but solid prof. Let's you come to her but is always available and spot on when you do. Genuinely cares about the student and supportive. Values, notices and gives credit for hard work.

Maureen was a really good prof, she is clear about the work you have and as long as you get the readings done per week (which aren't a lot) you'll be good for class, she's pretty introverted so she won't usually pick you in class, make sure you know how to write properly though.

Her lectures are very boring, made me dislike the entire course. The textbook is much more interesting. And her exams were both all written...

Found the course to be rather dry and boring, but Maureen is really nice and is a solid teacher. Got an easy b+ - she's a very fair marker and easy to get in touch with (replies to emails quickly). Wouldn't take an anthropology class again, but would definitely recommend her.

Easily one of the best profs at Cap. Maureen is consistently organized, prepared for class, clear in her lectures, provides excellent resources on moodle, and always is open through e-mail and office hours to help students out. I would take any class offered by Maureen.

She is a really wonderful teacher, probably one of the best at Capilano. I really enjoyed the amount of knowledge and additional resources she brought to the class. She is incredibly awesome. Take her classes, but try to come to her classes having read the assigned material.

Maureen was very knowledgeable and helpful if you made the effort. I learned a lot from her, and from this course. She is a tough marker, but like I said, if you make the effort, you will reap the reward.

I found this class hard to really understand, kinda felt it went around in circles. The readings are extremely dense and wordy and she is a very hard marker and requires extensive examples. I also found her to be a bit serious, not much of a sense of humour; however she is really nice if you go to her for help.

Maureen is more of a traditional lecturer - she doesn't write notes on the board so you have to keep up by writing what she says. If you read the text, she will explain the concepts in the next class. Her exams are v difficult and the reading questions take time. She is extremely helpful if you ask for help but she expects a lot of effort in return

Ok, these past comments are ridiculous. Maureen is extremely boring when she talks, which is all class and she assigns questions that take WAY more effort to do than essay's that she assigns that are 15% more than the questions. It is a very dull subject, and she makes it so much worse. Least favourite subject and prof by far.

I personally found the course material deathly boring, so that dampered my experience for this class, adn my mark as well. If I put all that aside I can say that she is a decent teacher. She marks fairly, and all her notes were available online so there was no excuse to do poorly if you study. I don't recommend the course if you're not interested.
