Professor Callanan is as brilliant a scientist as she is an instructor. Had her for Cognitive Development, and I learned a lot. She will make sure you know how to analyze research papers like a pro. Not simply the methods and findings, but the rationale- she teaches you to think like a scientist. Don't skip class on this prof!

She is a nice older lady. She section of psych 1 was easy and very cute to watch. You could see that she is a very caring person. Easy class, go to lecture and pass.

She was really straightforward in what you needed to do to get an A in her class. You need to go to lectures (slide shows don't have a lot of text) and do the readings. She made a very good study guide. If you know all the terms on it you will get an A. She had good/funny lectures and is super open to helping with questions after class.

Her part of the class was very informative. She would often include sample test questions on the slides during class so you would have a clue as to what the test might look like. She was super engaging and often had us voice our opinions. She showed both sides of theories as well.

Maureen focuses on teaching you to think critically and provides articles that spark up some good discussion in class. I found her ideas to be interesting enough to keep me engaged even though class was late in the day. She's done a lot of great research in the area of children's thinking. If the topic at all interests you, take the course.

I loved taking Professor Callanan! She's a little boring and her voice is really soothing (so it's easy to fall asleep in lecture), but she tries her hardest to keep her students engaged (lots of cute videos of kids and opporunities for class discussion). You can tell she really cares about her students. She's a fair grader and overall really clear

Prof. Callanan delivered interesting lectures with cool supplements. She was willing to hang out after class and give advice about the department. I'd take a longer psych class with her if the chance comes down the road.

One of the most helpful professors I've had. Its obvious she wants to see her students succeed and takes their feedback seriously. The environment of the classroom makes it easy to participate and if you read the articles the quizzes are easy. Very approachable and she gives great feedback on the rough draft for the final paper. Highly recommended!

Professor Callanan has a very soothing voice, and is much more engaging than Kawamoto. She shows interesting videos, and those are on the test. It's very important to read the textbook for her section because she pulls test questions from the book that she doesn't discuss in class at all.

She was a good teacher, but her test was no easier than Kawamoto's! She showed interesting, helpful videos. Study the book!

She is an interesting and knowledgable lecturer, just beware of her test! She was very unclear about what to study for it, so prepare in advance and don't think it will be easier than Kawamoto's test! She showed a lot of really interesting videos though.

She teaches the second part of Psych 1... the material (developmental psych) is more interesting and her lectures are typically engaging. She uses and references several videos as opposed to the book, and her opinions on some theories do show up on the test so make sure you go to class if you want to get those questions right on the midterm!

SO controlling. She hands out her supposedly random yet DAILY quizzes at 11:58 when the class starts at noon so don't be late. Your assignment will be considered late if you turn it in anytime after class has started. We emailed our rough drafts to her for feedback and because I didn't label the email correctly she made me resend it. CONTROL FREAK.

Prof. Callanan taught the segment on developmental psych. She tried to give examples (videos and life experiences) but sometimes they weren't really helpful. Lecture slides and her explanations were pretty clear and useful though

Maureen was an OK teacher. It seemed to me like she just copied and pasted everything from the book onto her slides. There was almost no point in attending lecture, at all. And out of all 3 of the teachers teaching this course, she has the most monotone voice. It was no bueno! Test was easy, yet didn't really get the grade expected.

Her class was challenging but if you pay attention in lecture and make flashcards you'll get an A. There are multiple choice and short answer questions on her test, if you give detailed answers on her short essay questions, you'll do great. Just make flashcards and study, it?s not an easy A type class but if you work for it you can get an A.

Although she offers the best slideshows and the best course structure (in terms of organization and presentation), I did not have a positive experience with her. She does not give specific answers to questions, and isn't receptive to controversy at all (a very "everyone-is-right-in-their-own-way" approach). Not a thought-provoking professor at all.
