If you don't like the books, you better just keep your mouth shut. She docks points if you disagree with her. She also had ambiguous grading criteria. I would never take her class again. Avoid her!

Teacher deserves F!Not a class just a book club.No teaching lecture written, powerpoint, mp3, nor video.7of16 weeks she merely posted links for support. Lazy lady uses questions from the book only, which may be good?No objective in syllabus, nor grading rubric for essay.Readings are obscure, difficult, rants open to interpretationâ€" disagree=bad grade.

This class was very difficult and since it was ALL online it seemed weird that SJCC would offer it. Lots of Novel reading! 4 Books in 1 term+ whatever else you are taking. Levinson is a by the book MLA format junky so if you are good at that you will do OK. Peer editing was not useful. Unique thoughts are not encouraged-she will mark you down.

I worked hard, but I learned more from Dr. L. than any other English class I've taken. She doesn't care if you argue the same thing as her--I argued exactly the opposite of her and still got an A on the essay. She even sat down with me on campus and we talked about the points that would support my interpretation. Class was awesome, learned tons.

I had Dr. Levinson for Eng 1 B, then decided that I liked her so much that I took 1C and Humanities 002 with her simultaneously the next semester.her class IS tough! And there IS a lot of reading and writing! However, if you really want to improve your writing in preparation for the University and beyond, she will give you valuable feedback.

Online course - unreasonable load. Required easily 5 units of work for 3. Overcompensates for being online. Need to login almost daily to keep pace. Load is so heavy - I have taken up to 17 units in a semester and I would not be able to take 9 inclusive with this course. Only take if it your only course.

Must write 6-8 page essays on short stories and poems. Online class had more attendance than actually attending a class. You must always check in and write a comment. She grades too hard especially if you do not write what she wants to hear. AVOID!!!

Tons of reading! We read the entire Jane Austen collection for her Great Works of Literature class. She expects a lot, but she is fair in her grading. All her classes are online, so you must frequently check in. She does expect good work, but it is college, after all.

She is not hard, but the class is reading/comprehension. As an intersession she requires daily work (N.P.) but she only assigns 2 papers. These papers are your interpretation and she dings your grade for not understanding the readings the way she sees on poems, plays, and stories. Without clear instruction on her views, reports are hard. 2/3 grade.

Online English classes aren't designed for people who don't know how to write essays. If you know your stuff, an online class lets you get the grade without listening to lectures about stuff you already know. Don't blame the professor for your ineptitude.

She's COOL. I just LOVED her class. A very friendly and nice person overall - if I could, I socialize with her outside of class, too. Very fair when it comes to grading. If you do your job - which is to work hard - you will get that 'A'. She's demanding and exacting when it comes to work, but she does an AWESOME job and you'd better do yours! :-)

This teacher sucked. It was an online class and she gave a lot of hw all the time. She was a very hard essay grader and expected you to write 8-10 pages on a topic that was so hard. I tried my best on every single essay that I wrote & I got a bad grade on each of them. She never graded fairly. If u want a challenge, take her. If not don't take her

I've taken all her classes because she is the best. I learned the most from her. You can't skate through her class, you must read and learn and do your work. She expects college level effort and it pays off for the student.

It always amazes me that every time I take a class with an instructor that assigns a lot of writing assignments and is not an "easy A", most everybody whines and cries about how they suck. Dr. Levinson is a very difficult grader and the work load is heavy. So, my advice to all the whiners, drop out of COLLEGE if you can't handle a real college clas

Had to add my 2 cents. LOVE her, on campus and on line. If you can't do college level work, don't blame the professor. It's not her fault. She spent lots of time on my writing in conference (office and phone) and I worked hard to apply her suggestions. My writing really improved! I'm now at State having an easy time of it. Well, with writing. :->

Huh. She got our papers back in four days over intersession, which was super fast cause there were like 30 people. I thought she was tough on grammar, but it is an English class, ya know! I earned a B and think that was a pretty fair grade (whew). I say she's tough but fair and willing to help you. You have to ask, though.

She is so bias! I would never take this instructor over again. Passed the class only because I complained about the grading curriculum. Take another teacher at all cost. However, you will learn how to ramble on about a poem/short story for about 4 to 6 pages! What a joke. It is quality not quantity. This instructor did not get that memo.

Fantastic teacher. Does not grade hard at all but she expects her students to be at a college readint/writing level. This is COLLEGE, get a grip. Read the stories and ask her or classmates for help with your essays. She's outstanding and will go out of her way to help you.
