This is my second class with Prof. Lowe. If she teaches something, TAKE IT. This class, "Music Gender & Sexuality" was fascinating and I highly recommend it! Prof. Lowe is always beautifully organized, her assignments are interesting, and each challenge your critical thinking skills to the T. You'll never want her classes to end.

My entire class loved Prof. Lowe. She is an articulate professor, came into class with so much vibrant energy and emphasized how we were all adults and she expected us to behave as such. We always had very engaging conversations and the assignments were extremely interesting as well. If you can take one of her classes, then DO IT!

Amazing professor! I looked forward to her class every week. She doesn't make crazy demands, but you definitely learn a lot from her. She is very understanding of students and really wants all of them to succeed. I'm pretty sure I'll be taking all of her classes. Oh, and no finals! She doesn't believe in them! :)

Great professor! I had her for MAR and it was extremely enjoyable, even though I was apprehensive about studying early music. Finds the most interesting topics to lecture, so class is very engaging. Fairly easy grader. Just make sure you go to class-she does take attendance.

Energetic, very positive. At times a bit opinionated, but not oppressively so. Mind carefully the secret rules of musicology (no such thing as progress in the arts! no such thing as objectivism!) as she is a stickler for them.

Dr. Lowe is one of my favorite teachers that I've had at Vanderbilt. However, I didn't to that well in her class because the midterm was way harder than I expected. But I loved the class and I got a lot out of it, which I figure is more important.

I loved this class! The time went quickly; Dr. Lowe tries to keep her students engaged through out the lecture. The midterm and final are easy; she isn't too hard of a grader on the paper, either. She is great.

Really, really energetic. She definitely relates with her students better than the vast majority of professors, and really knows how to relate the material to modern times. She's not as bad as some with her grading standards; just beware the midterm and minor details, which she's all about.

dr. lowe knows her stuff but likes to boil music history down to the lowest common denominator, which is usually (for her) sex. yes, memorable, but i have a feeling i'm missing some good details at times. she's very vibrant and charismatic, tests aren't too bad as long as you study.

Does a great job of preparation for each class. Most profs struggle with audio/visual materials (the tape's in the wrong place, they brought the wrong CD, etc). Not her. Very interesting class and she does a great job of presenting the material.

She loves her music. Her class is interesting, but it can get a little monotonous at times. Her tests only have a few questions, so study hard...if you miss one part of a question, your grade definitely suffers! She's super nice though
