No textbook necessary: she posts readings on Blackboard for students so they won't have to spend money. Fear of acting? Only reading and discussion of plays/theatre. Reading takes time though, so do the homework assignments--but they're both easy to do. We had to watch a play at school and write about it afterwards--both easy things to do.

She's hilarious and outgoing. Going to class is a blast with Prof. Gibson. Class mainly consists of reading plays and doing homework/quizzes/in-class writing assignments, then you go over them. She posts all of the plays online so no buying books! You have a participation grade, but it's easy to talk in this class. Loved this class and professor!

There are 11 quizzes, midterm, and final. Your lowest grade on the quizzes is dropped. The midterm and final are filled with a lot of extra credit questions. Melissa provides a vocab list for the midterm and final. Attendance isn't mandatory, but the midterm and final are based on her lectures, so it's a good idea to show up to class. Good luck!

I had an amazing time taking her Drama 186 course. Lectures were interesting. Class discussions were fun and entertaining. The course work consisted of quizzes that were based on assigned readings. Almost all the quizzes were take-home quizzes. Overall, easy A. Do the work, answer the extra credit questions, and you'll be golden.

A true gem. One of the best professors I've had at Fresno State. Very clear about what she expects and how things will be done. She's very funny and obviously very passionate about Theatre, which makes lectures and discussions great. She's a wonderful teacher and is very approachable.

Really engaging and insightful teacher. Class consist mainly of reading plays and then discussing them. There was a fair chunk of writing, but it was mostly to help facilitate the discussions we were having. I would highly recommend this professor.

Fabulously Informed and Gloriously Humorous, Melissa Gibson is a gift to the Fresno State Theatre Department. She made theatre history interesting and fun, which is very hard to do, and I did take almost every class she offered. Just remember you get the grade you earn so read your damn scripts!

Class is cake for anyone that has taken any type of drama class before. Took like 5 total pages of lecture notes, and did everything she said to get good grades. Class is cake, and hardly ever attend every day in a week.

Great if you want to buy 11 books for the semester. Makes you see plays, which are horrible and writing is key in the class. Drop and take something else!

Good classes, but she likes to assign a lot of writing. Going to plays are required, and I never saw a good one. I should have taken the class from Ed Emanuel.
