She makes learning a language pretty easy. There is a lot of homework assigned, but she rarely collects it, so it's not a big deal if you don't do it. Tests and quizzes are straightforward, but she can be a picky grader. Overall, she's nice at a great professor.

Comment:

Frau Guernsey is a very good language professor. She is very understanding of personal situations, no matter what they are, if you talk to her. She gives a decent amount of homework, which you should do, but it's not that bad. Don't get too far behind and you'll be fine. You will definitely learn some German : )

Absolutely the worst professor here. Grading is very subjective with no feedback at all. She is so disorganized that she forgets to tell you things and then blames you for not knowing them. It's a conversation class with no conversation, just memorizing random facts auf deutsch. Take Prof. Taylor instead. MFG is a nice person, but a god awful prof

German 101 has been my favorite class this semester at W&M. Not only does she do a lot with actually practicing speaking the language, she really cares about doing cutlure and other things that some teachers don't pay any attention to. A pretty tough class.... usually have to devote 6-7 hours a week for studying, but well worth it in the end

Professor Guernsey is very adamant about getting through her syllabus. While this could be a good thing, she often rushes through important components of the language. Also, she has a bad habit of notifying students of additional homework assignments/new quizzes at literally the 11th hour prior. Mostly I learned concepts in Drill.

Horrible. I've never felt so ridiculed in my life. She treats us like children. The classes are disorganized and completely useless. She has no control over the calss and I've never seen a professor act so unprofessional in four years. Do Not Take!

Tons of work, most of which she doesn't ever follow up on. But you never know when she's going to collect it, so you have to do hw every night. Really unclear at times and demanding both with hw assignments and out-of-class meetings. Lots of work, but not awful.

Freshman seminar: Tons of reading. Assignments every night. NOT ORGANIZED. I did SO MANY assignments that she ended up changing completely or deciding not to collecting. SO PICKY in her grading!!! Our journals were KILLER: I was writing full papers for her and she still found something wrong with them! I worked REALLY hard to get my A. REALLY HARD.

because she's so used to teaching language classes, her approach to teaching my freshman seminar was pretty muddled and she usually has her own answer in mind when she opens up questions for "discussion"...she has interrupted students many times and sometimes comes off as rude..

Frau is an EXCELLENT teacher. Don't get it twisted though: German 101 is NOT an easy class. There's lots of work and many quizzes and tests. However, I learned way more German than I thought I would in one semester.

Frau Feyock is a great professor - very clear, interesting, fair, and helpful. She's willing to work with students, but don't expect to be able to just slack off in her class. There is a reasonable amount of work involved, and you'll learn a lot of German. Highly recommended! :-)

You either love her or you hate her. I happen to love her. I loved class (hated drill, which she obviously didn't teach); she creates a great classroom atmosphere. Tends to give you curve **** on tests/quizzes, so be prepared.
