Took him for 1 and 2 and he's one of my favorite professors. I honestly never looked at a single homework problem, I would just practice his examples from class and read over the note, because that's usually where the tests came from. Though he wants you to pass, and it's hard not to pass because of some of the curves, he's still a hard professor.

Took him for phy 2048. He goes very fast. Does lots of derivations on the board in class of formulas. Doesn't spend enough time explaining concepts. If you know the concepts you should be able to apply the mathematics easily, not the other way around. Straight A student, received second C in college career; having taken over 100+ credit hours

Hollister is a great professor! He will do anything to help you understand the material and labs. He gets very excited while teaching which I find makes it easier to pay attention because its not as boring. If you aren't good in physics do the homework and ask questions. The labs are not very difficult but the tests are.

Tests are not too difficult. He assigns tons of homework problems online. Not enough time to complete the homework. Not a hard class if you are good a Phy. If not, take someone else. I wouldn't take him again.

Professor Hollister is great. He's not the clearest professor but he'll do everything he can to help you understand. He answers all your questions and wants you to do well. The hardest part of the class is the quizzes and homework. The tests aren't bad but you don't have much time to work all the problems so you need to know what your doing. STUDY!

Very good teacher, its a hard class no matter what and lots of studying may still net you a C. However, Hollister is a million times better than Struganova. Nice guy too not that that really matters. Final not cumulative worth the same as other tests. Do what he says and you can pass.

I took calculus I, II, and III with this professor back in 2000. He was just the greatest. If youre into math and there to learn , he will blow you away. He is just awesome, and i hope he still wears his suspenders!

Professor Hollister is really clear and very thorough. Maybe too thorough. He goes into so much detail and sometimes its slows down the class if your a quick learner but he makes sure your on the same page as him. I'd take him again though.

Phenomenal teacher! If you are lucky enough to have him, it will probably be one of the best teachers in you school career. Tests are not exactly easy, but if you attend the lectures, you have nothing to worry about. He makes an incredibly difficult subject understandable.

First if your taking physics its hard bottom line. Hollister is probably going to be the best teacher for pyhsics on the East campus. There is alot of homework n quizzes but you can A's on all of that. He takes attendance but it doesn't really matter. There's 4 test including the final and there challenging, but hey its physics.

Prof. is a clear and logical teacher. Hard grader. Marks points for sig figs (his answers don't follow data figs). Time consuming course due to online HW. Wilyplus is terrible (few solutions/easy to get stuck for hours). Tests: 80%, too much. It's so easy to make a mistake on these problems. HW/Labs: 10%. Long lab reports (more like tech. essays).

Neat professor, knowledgeable, most interesting and different teacher i ever had. Although his teaching styl may not work for evryone. Sometimes the concepts sound really complex the way he says them. But hes good overall and be sure to practice.

You cannot beat Prof. Hollister's experience. As with all math/physics courses you must practice. The way he explained thing just made sense for me. Do all HW, tests are half class examples and half HW. I took PHY 2049 and I loved it, some of the most interesting stuff I have ever learned and I am IE!

Prof Hollister is while like every1 else said can be hard if you go to class and pay attention he is extremely easy. He gives a lot of online hw/quizzes! I got all A's and B's on tests, they are exact problems as on the online hw and quizzes with different numbers. Only thing I didnt like is he doesnt announce when labs are so go to class

I studied everyday. He is good, but requires many hours. I would take another professor if I were you. If you love physics (nerd) then you should take him. Otherwise, if you just want to get in to professional school, it would hurt your grade. You can get a B. There were 3 A's in class.

This professor as wells as Coyne are the hardest professors you will encounter. The test are extremely hard, and you need time to study physics seven days a week or you will fail the class. Merton is extremely demanding professor Just make good grades on the tests, the other work is useless.

One of my all time favorite professors. Comes prepared and has a complete mastery of the subject. His enthusiam for the subject will eventually rub off on the student. Took him in the 90's and still have not found a professor as good as him.

He is an awesome physics teacher. If you did not understand something he would explain it better for you. We did a lab every week which helped me better understand what we were learning that week. The test were mostly the chapter questions that he assigned so you knew what would be on the test.

Awesome physics professor. Explains the concepts very well and loves to teach - his enthusiasm for the subject is contagious. Class is well organized and structured. 1 homework assignment and 1 online quiz per week. Test problems are very similar to homework problems. Takes attendance occasionally but attendance isn't required. As a physics major a
