Comment:
Dr. Carter cares a lot about what she teaches and expects a lot from her students. There is a lot of reading and discussion, but it's to the benefit of the students. I have taken classes and gotten easy A's but forgotten everything I did in those classes. This one you'll actually learn something from. Take it if you want to be challenged.

Comment:
Ms. Carter's Virginia Woolf class was very enjoyable, even speaking as someone who didn't like Woolf's work very much! There's a lot of reading, but it's pretty manageable if you divide your assigned pages into sections by each day. Just make sure you show up to class ready to participate in discussion, because that's a heavy part of your grade.

Mia Carter is hands down the best professor I've had in UT's English Department. Her passion, dedication, and intelligence shows in every one of her classes. There is a LOT of reading for her courses and she is one of the toughest graders I've had at UT, but the class was so enjoyable, intellectually stimulating and fascinating.

Dr. Carter has been one of the most fun lecturers I've had during my 4 years at UT. She is insightful, fun, and engaging. There is a lot of close reading for the Virginia Woolf class, but she makes you want to do it! I like how detailed her feedback was in grading essays as well. Take from her!

She is, on top of being an outstanding lecturer who challenges her students to really think, hands-down the most inspirational professor I've had to date. She also leaves incredibly detailed feedback on essays, more so than I've gotten from any other professors. She really helped me realize my potential and grow confident about my writing.

Comment:
Has a great personality, but her grading system is very confusing. She does not post grades on Canvas, so you have to guess your grade as you go through the class. Also, she loves grammar in this class, she puts grammar above the quality of content. The final assignment is not even a real grade, which just made my final grade more confusing.

I get chills thinking about this Virginia Woolf class again. It isn't a breeze. Dr. Carter demands meticulous close reading of the material and high-level critical analysis. That said, she makes you WANT to do it. I'm in my senior year and thus far have had few professors who achieved such a perfect balance of challenge and inspiration. Take her!

An amazing lecturer, interested and involved in the student's progress. Truly devoted to the topic and discussion. Engages the student in the discussion without lecturing TO. Passionate. Provides a heart to the bureaucracy of the University.
