I put an "A" effort into his class, learned as much as most "D" students, but got a B+. He is not very clear and the way he grades free response is ridiculously unclear. Seriously, you can write everything perfectly and he will still deduct you with no explanation. I'm studying for AUD right now and struggling because he didn't teach effectively.

Aker's was one of the hardest teacher's that I've had. I did good in his audit class but had to put in alot of work and hours. He doesn't give you enough information to know what you have to study for the exams. He's a nice guy overall but I would prefer a younger teacher who could make the class more interesting. Btw he Intimidates students.

Class is difficult but does not have to be. The teacher makes it painful. Old school class environment in a bad way. You teach yourself and Becker CPA Review helps you pass the CPA Audit section, not this class. He does a poor job of explaining concepts.

This class is difficult. There's no getting around that. However, Dr. Akers knows his stuff and is crystal clear on his explanations. If you put the effort in, participate in class, and study, you will get an A (like I did). And if you're planning on taking the CPA, you will be incredibly thankful that you took this class when studying for AUD.

If you are a verbal learner you may have a chance in this class, otherwise good luck. You basically teach yourself. He expects 110% but gives the bare minimum in return to students. He will literally throw slides up with scribbles all over them. Also, his class is outdated from true Audit technqiues. Recommend taking the class elsewhere.

He knows his stuff but his teaching skills are poor in relation. Has complete contempt for students and seems to thrive on intimidation. Everyone is afraid of him and he thrives on it. Also, the only way he got to his position is because the previous chair liked him. His classes are terrible eventhough I got an A and B in them.

Akers is the man! He has tons of experience and talks a lot about accounting in the real world. It's interesting. Plus, his tests are straight-forward and managable. He's a cutie. I want to hug him.
