On the first day of class, he said that if you do good work you will "probably get a C." He gave people two grades on a test and told them they had to prove to him over the course of the semester that they deserved the higher grade. His lectures were not helpful- I ended up teaching myself with youtube videos. Overall I just felt discouraged.

Probably the best math teacher I've ever had. We both really vibrate at the same frequency so everything in class makes perfect sense. His lecture is mostly working practice problems with the class, and taking questions. He recommends problems for study outside of class. Online HW didn't matter unless it helped your grade, thank god. Really great.

Prof. Micheal is very hard specially at the beginning, but overall his class is very doable. Any calculus class at UNM or CNM is meant to be hard and his calculus classes will be hard as well with non linear grading but at the end you'll have a very strong grip on the material. The good part about his classes is that 35% is on HW which could help.

I dropped this class. He wasn't helpful and a very tough professor. If you are not that good with math like me, don't take this class with him. He doesn't answer questions about homework. You will have to watch a bunch of lecture videos and tons of homework.

Michael was, hands down, one of the hardest teachers I have ever had in any subject, but I am grateful I had him. Because of his tough grading and his willingness to communicate with you about what you need to improve on, I feel like I am far better prepared to move forward. Only take him if you really want to learn and are willing to work for it.

I took this class over at Montoya campus and the class consists of doing homework out of the book, weekly online homework and lectures, weekly quizzes, and a few exams throughout the semester. This class was tough not going to lie, but you'll have to work for your grade, meaning he is a tough grader..

I took this course as a high school student; it was my first interaction with any Calculus. As a result, I had trouble early on transitioning from slow-paced, easy-graded high school math to Michaels test-intensive course, but I came out all the better. Awesome sense of humor, productive lectures, great overall.

He covers a few major concepts of a chapter and then expects you to teach yourself the rest of the curriculum. The class consists of him answering questions you may have about the homework or book and nothing else. He will not guide you through the curriculum and he grades harshly.

His lectures are ok but when it comes to test reviews,he just shows up on review day to answer your questions and nothing else. His exam review he posts are half a page, just listing off the topics you need to know. That's it. He's a very nit picky grader. He doesn't allow calculators or notes during tests. One of the toughest professors. Avoid him

Michael is one of, if not, the toughest math professor I've ever had in my life. His grading is super strict and you must dedicate lots of time to study. You will not pass if your one to be on your phone a lot or if you skip class, that's guaranteed. Everything must be perfect and will dock you points if not. He's a super nice guy, just very hard!

Reviews say "he's an excellent teacher who prepares you well for calculus" but they show they got a C. If you're learning well in that class and you're well prepared for a harder class, shouldn't you be getting good grades? Reviews like that are disingenuous. I have seen very bright people drop his class instead of continue, should've done it too.

He's a nice guy but his midterm tests are brutal and his grading is really strict. The only students that got an A in this class had taken calculus before.

He is an excellent professor who will prepare you well for calculus. Do not take his classes if you are not ready for a challenge. The lectures are less lecture-heavy and more about developing crucial math skills through in-class problems that are completed in groups. He has a unique way of teaching that is highly effective and at times, enjoyable.

I'm going to be honest: his classes are hard, and he makes you work for it. But it's also one of the best math experiences I've ever had. I haven't done real math in a decade, and now I feel confident going into Calculus. Pay attention, follow directions precisely, do the optional homework, hit him up after class. He'll make time for you.

There is reason to be very skeptical of the four, 5-star reviews Professor Crane has received for Calculus II, 1715. He does not offer extra credit for one and his lectures are less than "amazing." Having taken this class with him, I find it unbelievable that four of my fellow Calc II students would have given him such high marks.

If you don't like having to wait in the hallway for a teacher to show up, don't take his class. In this semester (spring 2017) he has decided to make the HW due the class before he teaches it (infuriating). Miss one concept in his lecture he leaves you in the dust. Tests and homework reviews are unrelated. good guy though.
