This class takes a lot of time and effort, cramming will not work. If you do the problems he assigns, you will pass. This class is very demanding on time if you have never taken calc before.

This is a really difficult class for individuals who did not take Calculus in high school. But unfortunately, he is the only professor teaching this course.

All other reviews make this class seem impossible. If you simply put in time and effort, this class is a breeze. Midterms and final are exactly like the homework, the 2nd midterm tends to be more difficult. Lectures were clear, he's available during office hours, clear grader, and is caring. Not a hard class if you're willing to put in some work.

The other reviews made me sad because I thought he was an amazing professor! His lectures are clear and prepares you for the exams. He is funny, so I never missed his lectures. I usually did all the mymathlab hw. I did some of the book problems before the quizzes. I think it was enough to pass the class with an A. I highly recommend taking him.

If you do the optional textbook problems & go back & redo the ones you struggled on, quizzes are easy & midterms are doable. There's icons on each textbook page that give nearly identical examples. Don't procrastinate with the online hw and focus on the textbook problems. I genuinely enjoyed going to lecture, he was pretty funny at times.

I had a hard time with this class and the professor didn't make it any easier. He talks at a very fast pace and is very strict with policies. Also, he likes to pick the hard questions for exams. The quizzes are better than the exams. Go to tutoring .

Calculus is a difficult subject in general. But Curtis is actually a great professor, who explains every problem in depth and tries to make sure the class understands. The quizzes/tests are also difficult, but he gives out reviews that cover most of the material so you should be fine as long as you do those. First math class I actually understood.

Curtis' class is one of the most difficult courses I have ever taken in my educational career. Midterms and Quizzes are incredibly difficult. You MUST do the study guides if you want any hope on doing well on the quizzes. He is also not very helpful and lecture is pretty dry.

Terrible professor, told me I was going to fail because I got into the course late and that I should just drop it rather than be helpful like a professor should be.

GO TO CLASS he doesn't put notes online(need a friend or someone you know to give you notes if you miss class). will be hard to pass if you don't put in the effort. he DOES have quizzes but he posts on iLearn what may be on it. Actually fair grader . NO PHONES during quizzes/exams(if he hears anything even on vibrate you get an F). discussionquiz

Very transparent about what to expect on exams. If its your first time taking calculus, do yourself a favor and show up to class and pay attention. He makes calculus easy to understand. Honestly, straight up a decent teacher. Would recommend!

A good grade in this class is possible to achieve, but it requires a lot of hard work and dedication. Do not skip discussion and do all of the homework! Prof. Curtis talks pretty fast and moves on pretty quickly in his lectures so make sure to keep up. Generally speaking, this class with Curtis is extremely time-consuming, but not too challenging.

I am not a math person but Prof. Curtis was great at leading lectures in a way that was easy to follow. He is friendly and gives great feedback after every exam. Don't be afraid to ask him questions, he has a 100 ways of explaining a single concept! Exams consist of questions similar to the hardest questions on the homework; you have been warned.

Prof. Curtis is a great teacher! Yes, the course is rigorous but if you do all the problems he assigns for hw (optional but RECOMMENDED), you will do very well in the class. Also, go to his office hours because they are extremely helpful!

Professor Curtis goes extremely fast during lectures. If this is your first time taking calculus, I recommend taking fewer classes. There is a quiz and worksheet (basically every week), two midterms, and a final. The tests were very hard and homework/practice exams did not help.

If you have no experience in calculus then I sympathize the struggle you will endure. Curtis will make you feel as if you are understanding the topic & makes it seem so simple until the exams which are very difficult and only free response. The class is based on the success on your exams. He admits he does not do a good job teaching the subject.

I wish that he could actually help students by going over topics. He really needs to put more effort on helping students understand. This class is really difficult and make sure to go to lectures. He goes really fast.

Professor Curtis is hard. He goes very fast and tries to complete as many topics as he can which makes it very hard to understand each and every concept. There is a quiz every week and the discussion sections are heavily weighted. The midterms are hard and it makes you work a lot. Take all other easy classes if you have to take math 22 with Curtis.

Professor Curtis is alright. Work hard and do all the practice problems and go to SI and you will pass with a high grade. He curves the grade and so his passing rate is high. If you put in all the work you should be able to pass the class. His class goes so fast that sometimes students need the practice so always go to office hours to get help.

He is pretty old school so all of his slides are handwritten and not posted online. His joke are not funny at all and he it's almost like his goal is to fail every student. The homework is nothing like what he shows in class and is extremely time consuming. Weekly quizzes are doable if you study but the score you get is based on the TA's.
