Comment:
Farell is a really good professor. There are only 2 tests- the midterm and the final and they both have extensive writing portions. There is also a final paper that has to be no less than 8 pages. This class is challenging only if you don't attend lectures or do the readings. If you do, you'll find that it is an interesting and fun class.

Good professor, but tends to take forever to get to his point. It seems like he is an average professor at best, but if you are willing to put in any semblance of effort he rewards you with a much greater effort than you put in. If you have any plans on using your education, he is a fantastic professor. Would definitely take his class again.

Comment:
By far the worst professor I've had at UB. Work load is extensive, he could care less about his students, and his tests are insane. He doesn't consider that his students have other classes and made the final nearly impossible to do well on. I would NOT recommend this professor.

Comment:
Only grades are a midterm, group research project/presentation, and a final. He is unclear about the group project. He does not take attendance but it is the only way to get the notes. Fair amount to a lot of reading depending on the unit. TA is unhelpful and just as lost as the students it seems.

Comment:
goes off on tangents all the time, exam multiple choice is outrageous, essay questions are given before hand, group project was pointless.. upset to find out it was just pass fail at the end of the semester whats the point! when questioned how grades were determined at the end he seemed upset that i even asked, which is my right as a student AVOID!

Not very clear. Doesn't make good use of class time. Pretty pointless class and not very good professor.

Way too oriented on group projects; Not very good at organizing class time or controlling the class; Tests are fairly difficult

fair tests, almost too fair if there is such a thing. for our final, we had one essay, and he gave us the essay weeks before the exam (we knew what it was come exam time) and we got to bring a 3 x 5 cheat card. not too much work, presentation.
