If you don't like a professor here ... Too bad, you have to take it or leave to a different school. No more choices. This professor probably knows a lot but does not know how to teach doesn't explain the assignments well, and expects you to know what's "right" we're here to learn not to guess. changing schools.

McGarvey is great. He wants you to get inspired and to really think about what you're designing as well as look to other resources, such as the library, to further your knowledge of other artists. You do sketch a lot thumbnails and the lectures/tutorials/critiques are a bit stale. However, you get out what you put in.

He just talks.. On and on about nothing that has to do with anything.. I'm sure he knows what he's trying to say I just think he needs to explain it in a way that actually makes sense and doesn't have to do with this checker board he talks about all the time. He also doesn't explain projects very well.

hes horrible. he never gives u a clear idea of any project. he talks too much about nothing and doesnt let u apply urself while in class, u will do nearly all ur work during studio hours. dont take him if you can avoid him. take a class form bob pierro instead much better prof.

He does not give you a clear idea of what he wants in an assignment. many thumbnails. and in Senior Project II he does not give you enough time to work on your portfolio, instead he wastes more time than necessary on the 4 panels you have to do.

Knows his stuff about the programs and what an employer will look for in you as an Illustrator. Agreed, not very personable but he's well rounded in both fine arts and digital arts. Exceptional class and well deserved for Illustrators-to-be.

Not the most personable professor, but always willing to help IF YOU ASK...he isn't a mind reader. A lot of the work is intensive, be ready for the thumbnails. After GD I and II, I definitley learned alot from him and am happy to have had him for a teacher.
