Portnoy is awesome. He gives out a lot of assignments and is pretty unorganized but other than that hes great. The class and material are entertaining. As far as being rude/sarcastic with students he kind of is but its pretty funny.

Great teacher, we read lots of interesting stories for the course of this class. The reading journals werent too bad, unless you get behind (like me!). But other than that, class is a great class, very nice guy, and EXTREMELY FLEXABLE, papers arent crazy hard either. A+ teacher

All the reading you do in his class in very interesting and he always goes over everything in class. He gives a lot of writting assignments but they're very interesting too and never boring. There's a final presentation project in his class but he lets you pick the topic and helps you A LOT!! Pick this class, he's a very fun, sarcastic guy.

The guy is really sarcastic and makes you wanna tell him some four letter words. Despite what most people rite on this, the guy is yes slack but he is annoying and makes you do crappy writing assignments along with a research paper on a really stupid topic. He is very disorganized and is rude to 97% of the class so BEWARE on taking this guy!

Fun teacher, sarcastic but amusing. Some see him as "putting you on the spot" but in actuality he's just testing to make sure you read the material or just wants to make you think more. Grading is slightly slack. Fairly easy journals and research paper, fun discussions.

Mr.Portnoy was yes very sarcastic and yes he doesnt EVER return your papers but he is SUPER SLACK when it comes to grading and he is about as organized as a 10 year old so he lets you slide on assignments since he probably hadnt graded them. He is EASY though just do the 3-4 writing assignments and participate in discussions, one research paper.

Very stressful! Not a very fun guy to be around, the class has of a lot of idiots and he brings out the worst in them. Makes you read books made for teens that cater to this ignorant generation. Research more and find a teacher with more of a passion for the class.

He's not funny, nor is he sarcastic. He puts people on the spot, you have to read what he assigns, he asks a lot of questions. He'll always go against what you say and tries make you feel stupid. Other than that he grades very easily and gives a lot of time to turn things in. kind of boring though

He's a good teacher and as everyone says, he slacks too much but, hey give him a break he teaches like 5 classes from 6 am till night, give him a break, nice person somewhat funny at sarcastic at times. Papers are easy, not too harsh grading them and gives plenty of opportunity to give the essays late.! I recommend him, take him =]

Good teacher, never returns papers tho and if he promises something, he won't do it. Take him if you like to read and discuss,he gives about 3 essays persemester and he takes the whole semstr to return em. At the end, he'll say that if he doesn't return em by a certain date u wont have to do the research paper but its BS u have to do it anyway

Take him if you like to be talked down to and constantly put on the spot. His humor is funny the first day of school, then after that, it's all political and his opinion is the only one worth anything. He says he'll return our work to us, but then doesn't at all. If you show up and turn in everything, you'll get an A. Don't expect to learn.

Mr Portnoy, was a horrible teacher that i ever met, who was not willing to help and was upset by questions asked in class. He was late to at least every class by 20 or 30 mins. He talk any kind the Sh.... in class. I wouldn't recommend him for any student.His a BIG JECK AND WOST ANIMAL IN THE WHOLE WORLD. don't take his class
