Dr. Runyan was the greatest instructor I had in Literature EVER! His class did more to open up my thought process and mind to the "bigger world picture!" I was sorry the semester ended so soon and wanted to take other classes with him, but my schedule wouldn't allow it. He may be retiring soon, but he is the one teacher you'll never regret!!

to get an A-go to class, take notes(often hard cuz he mumbles), do reading, contribute to group work, complete study guide to best ability, GO TO "OPTIONAL" CLASSES THE DAY BEFORE A TEST, mentally prepare yourself for him to look at you like you?re stupid, then ask about the things on the study guide your notes are missing. Study and you?re A-ok!

I think that he has gotten to the point where he just does not care. His classes are extremely easy, but pretty boring as well, consisting of group work and small lecture. His lectures are just a bunch of inaudible mumblings. and beware, he will randomly YELL at students over nothing.

He's cool, he assigns writing assignments at the end of every class, you'll find yourself improving eventualy. Don't take him if your looking for a new best friend, but he answers questions well as long as there not dumb questions or about anything other than english. No long lectures

Worst class I've taken at Saddleback. If you do the work (I can't remember there being any homework), it's an easy A - but I would reccomend you not take Runyan. He knows what he is talking about but is not a good teacher. I learned nothing. Definately reccomend you take someone else.

mr. runyan has trouble with eye contact when talking to you or to the class and sweats very much. he didnt teach me anything. all we did in his class was do a group activity and then write a 150 word essay. easiest class of my life but did not learn anything.

This is a really easy A, but if you fall behind or need help with anything, DEAR GOD don't ask him. He'll just rip you apart. Make a friend or two and ask them instead. He yelled at a girl on the first day of class for yawning. Easy class if you can learn on your own, horrible class for those who need to be taught.

Painfully boring. Not willing to help. Truly an embarrassment to all other teachers. He lectures all period that has nothing to do with the content of the stories. I definetly do not recommend him.

Good lord, I nearly went comatose a few times in this class. He does know what he is talking about, and makes a fair amount of jokes. Many times he will just end class half an hour or even 45 minutes early because he is done, and no one wants to stay and ask questions

I really don't know what to say..he knows the material just does not seem to like his career choice. I took him once and recieved an A. I would not take him again. If I saw him walking outside of class I always hoped he did not recognize me...which was assured because he never makes eye contact with you or the class....strange guy.

He is weird in his behavior, but smart. If you like literature, you can start interesting discussion with him. The class was easy: read the book, come to the classes. Midterm and Final are easy if you study and know the stuff read. Final was hard though. Good luck!

He should have retired years ago. He seems angry that he is teaching and randomly yells at students for asking valid questions about the subject at hand. If he is having a bad day, he will take it out on anyone unlucky enough to talk to him or cross his path. Incredibly easy class though - you'd have to try to get less than an A.

very helpful. explicitly states what he expects from you in the class and especially for the midterm and final. no written papers do, just short answer on tests. did not do ost of the reading, but because of class discussion got A in class. he loves this subject and provides fun background information. highly recommended.
