Very vague lectures, barely any substanial material was covered. Puts random questions on tests from reading that wasn't covered in lecture. Tests were harshly graded. I would recommend taking this class with another teacher.

Ranney makes you realize how "hand waive-y" CogSci can be. His lectures do not go into detail, he is vague about terms and concepts, and his exam questions are often extremely vague and harshly graded. He seems to genuinely care about his students and pedagogy, but the teaching itself is poor.
