She is very passionate and loves taking with the class. I personally wouldn't take this class just because of the extreme amount of readings required. However she allows you to re-do your papers as much as you want to get the best grade possible

Comment:

Michele is one of the best profs I've ever had: she's brilliant, genuinely cares about her students' progress, and is always willing to push boundaries academically. Her classes are heavy on reading, and she can be a tough marker, but essentially she just wants you to take the class seriously. I've taken 4 classes with her and would take many more.

Comment:

Took for Crime in the Media. Bird course, watched TV shows but related them to issues in society today. Very interesting, you actually look forward to the class. She was very helpful, and it was clear what was expected of you. Only thing is she is a tough marker. Highly recommend.

It's obvious that she loves her job, she certainly knows what she is doing and she genuinely cares about her students. Very knowledgeable, knows how to elaborate and relate class subjects to theory while making the class interesting, engaging and fun. Very good movie selection to watchcriticize. She provides the required readings.

Great prof! She allowed us to re-do sections of the midterm that we did not do well on and the take-home final was easy! She's funny and there were a lot of great class discussions and guest speakers. All her readings were online rather than buying a textbook, which saved good money! Great class!

Dr. Byers the BEST! She genuinely cares about her students, and is extremely helpful and approachable. She wants everyone to do well and you can tell that she loves what she does; she is the reason I chose Soc. as my major. I have been lucky enough to take 3 classes with her - LOVE HER! Very good class. She makes you watch alot of videos especially of Michael Moore and her class is interesting. She is pretty good looking and seems to enjoy what she does. A good intro course to soc and a good grade is not hard to come by. Tests come from all lecture pretty much.

Very bad professor, oppressive, marks students work down if you offend her. Flaky and unorganized, does not know how to use theory in her classroom. Very basic teaching. Likes to look at a variety of issues, but isnt knowledgeable enough to give students a good background in the material. She needs to find another career.
