Mayhew is not a terrible professor, but I don't feel you get your moneys worth out of the class. He tells way too many personal stories and doesn't go over the text (yet he tests you on it.) He tells inappropriate jokes and gives you life advice which is essentially get married (only if you're straight), stay married, and pop out kids,

I really enjoyed this class. The quizzes are fairly hard. Only 10 questions and 13 of them but the questions can be somewhat hard. He really likes to talk about research and gives you the facts. He really cared and was passionate about his teaching and I would definitely take him again.

I have earned a Masters Degree from SCSU and a PhD from another university. Dr. Mayhew was the best Professor I have ever had hands down. SCSU students are lucky to have such a talented individual.

He is really cares about his students and is an insightful man. I enjoyed his class, but I can see how some people think he believes that his way is the right way all the time.

He doesn't really have his head on straight or his feet on the ground. While he seems like a nice guy, he really doesn't understnad the needs of the family is. In a perfect world, it would be both biological parents, but this world is not perfect and pretending it is is a diservice to the field. Take with a grain of salt!

Not for the faint of heart. Dr. Mayhew is definitely not PC and demonstrates this with current research and theory. Don't take him if you don't want to work and learn. He treats students like adults, expecting us to read and learn, then brings in real examples and discussion that was interesting!

A great prof! Community Psych. needs more prof's that are grounded in research and are preparing their students for what is a head in their future. Dr. Mayhew was always willing to help and is very enjoyable to be around.

He is not a bad prof. when he sticks to teaching the material, but once he starts teaching his beliefs then look out. His idea of a family is a biological mother and father and children and anything outside of this is "abnormal" even in abuse cases. Take this class from someone else, like Manijeh.

Believes in the accomplishments of the individual, the worth of the individual and that the success of the individual depends on how much they are willing to give to others. It seems that his idea is that a winner will help make other's winners.
