Dr. Cox literally helped to kill my enthusiasm for the major. He rambles throughout the class. Lectures are difficult to follow even though you concentrate the whole time. Off-topic discussions and half explained problems made the class worse for me. Very nice guy though. Just a bad teacher.

Fellow EE students! This is the class you want to take before you graduate. Power engineering is a very important topic for all EEs. There should be several design problems and take-home tests. Stay with the class and you will do well. You will realize after taking this class that you have learned so much and wasted a lot of time in circuit I !!!

Comment:

One of the best EE professors you can find at Tech. Dr. Cox is, by ranking, far from the levels with Hummel or Harbour. Ask any one of the EE Alumni and you can find positive response for it. The materials in EE 422 requires doing homework and more thinking, not just copying solution from Cramster. The test is fair and open-book. He is enthusiasm!

Whenever he teaches a topic he's really enthusiastic about, he will often go on tangents that have little to do with what is actually supposed to be covered in class. However, he's better than a lot of people about getting homework and tests back in a reasonable time, and he generally doesn't try to trick you on tests unless they're take-home.

try to outsmart students. favorite quotes like "Does it ring a bell?", "cookbook techniques", "by inspection", and "i got some old test problems". he is really helpful if you pay attention on what he said in class.

Terrible teacher. Cannot provide clear answers to questions, and usually gets frustrated if you try to dig further. Lectures consist of irrelevant ramblings and half finished example problems. He does teach pretty much out of the book, so you can teach yourself. To keep yourself awake, try counting how many times he says cookbook and by inspection.

1995 graduate. I had him for EE 221, 222, 381 in 1992 and 1993. Now I am a PhD. Had to learn the stuff after I got my BS the hard way and on my own. Cox was my first EE professor but I'm sorry I didn't get a good start at Tech and Cox had to do something with it.

381 was a disaster, but there are no other options. He does not prepare for his lectures and rambles through example problems the whole class. He is a good guy with bad methods. 481 was much better but still not good.
