An amazing musician, director, and person. Truly one of my largest inspirations. Can seem a little in-personable because he defers a lot to his secretary, but if you schedule a meeting with him he is friendly, wise, and quite funny. Made my college experience.

He's tries very hard to teach effiently and effectively, and connect with his students. I notice that it's usually guys that don't like him. My theory on that is that some guys are jealous of the attention he gets from girls. That's not Dr. Fansler's fault. He's a good teacher and a good person!

I enjoy Wind Ensemble very, very much because Dr. Fansler is a very competent and exciting teacher. My interpretation of the music we play is often very close to his. If you're serious about music then you can overcome his character flaws and find that he is incredibly helpful on your path to becoming a better musician.

Incompetent and unqualified. Doesn't understand the literature and his conducting is just awful. His rehearsals are unprepared and counterproductive. Puts himself above the students when planning concerts/tours to build his own resume. He's taken a once respected ensemble and driven it into the ground.

He is very knowledgeable about his craft and enjoyes teaching and touching the students lives.....he's also great to look at!! It's easy to watch the conductor when he's on the podium!!!

He's been a sweetie ever since I joined marching band as a freshman. I can finally say that I march in step and play my instrument, well, better than I used to. If he teaches MUS 395 once he's Director of Bands, I'm definitely taking it. You can also visit his office to blow off steam.
