You're going to learn a lot, but your GPA is gonna suffer. The first exam, our class average was a 59. It's really not gotten much better after that.

I learned a lot in Biostatistics. The only thing that detracted from my experience was that I got a B- with an average of 88% on tests? It didn't make much sense, but I'm summing it up to attendance. Admittedly I missed more classes than I should of. Overall though Prof. Ostrofsky is one of the most clear and helpful professors Ive had at Allegheny

Comment:
Lectures were always interesting and worth attending because he explained concepts in a way not conveyed in the notes. Case studies were presented often. A nice guy, more than willing to help if you put forth effort in the class. Very intelligent, and very good at explaining things in an understandable way.

Comment:
His notes are absolutely useless and he is hard to approach. hes a strict tester and pulls information from nowhere which can not be found in book or notes so you really have to pick up on the most useless details in class. He uses alot of vocab and case studies but is yet again ridiculously particular with answers.

Horrible. He is a good person, but impossible to follow in his intro classes. I think he's a very smart man and knows what he's teaching. However, he just can't teach it in an effective manner.

Milt is an interesting guy but makes Bio220 difficult. His notes are hard to follow (especially if you weren't there for lecture). He also puts examples and definitions that were not written completely in his notes on exams.

Milt was my advisor for BIO Senior Sem 600. I learned so much from this guy; ability to research; chemical labs; metals extraction; Spectroscopy etc. He expects yo to do independent research which helps you prepare for graduate school and fulfills the ALLEGHENY COLLEGE requirement of the Senior Composition. Intelligent Man.

Best Class Ever - dry, sarcastic sense of humor, extremely high level of knowledge on the topic, worth showing up for class. No textbook used.

Nice as a person, but not too clear during lectures. Puts seemingly unimportant information on exams. Lectures are a bit dry but he tries to lighten them up with humor.

Lectures are sometimes hard to follow and he gets off topic frequently. Not the clearest examples presented. Tests are hard and questions are also ambiguous, with many possible answers. His office hours are more helpful, with one on one time to really get him to address questions in detail.

I've had him for intro biology, biostats and a freshman seminar (malthus reconsidered). He writes very hard exams but is just such an interesting professor it is worth the extra work. He is very sarcastic and blunt, giving him an individual charisma.

I had him for my jr. sem as well as ecology and LOVED him; he's very good in a smaller class size and gets very excited for labs. Pretty hard, but he is always willing to help. I would recommend him for anyone interested in outdoors/lakes/ecology stuff.

SOOO boring. make sure you get a good 8 hours before this one or you'll be out in 5 mins. Tests on trivial information. Tries to be funny and fails miserably. Its tolerable, but if you can get in with someone else, do so.

basically, i got stuck in this class because i was last to register, but it wasn't all bad. He has the view of may Sci teachers about FS, write the papers the dean makes you, give the speeches. Class got out early all the time, but it was interesting. We even took a field trip. As an FS shoul be.

avoid this prof! this guy is first of all arrogant, second of all, he does the classic technique of asking a stupid question and then waiting 30 seconds for someone to answer...his recitation sessions are largely useless and his lectures so boring i fall asleep ever single class
