This class was so easy. I slept almost every class. Just read through what he gives you, don't be stupid and you'll be fine. If you've ever been to Japan on travel before, that also helps. Don't play pokemon in the class, you'll look like an idiot like the rest of the 90% of the class (of course, all anime freaks)

1.A lazy instuctor, he just reads over the answers of the assignment from the texts using whole class session.2.Do not take this course if you're a foreign student (Japanese are OK). He is harsh on your Eng. skill than your J680 work though his Eng.is funny;a sound pollution.

It seemed he selects students;majority were Japanese and Americans. He is not interested in "Teaching".

Awful, awful course, awful professor. He has to learn English First!!!!. Thinks "teaching" means reading over the answers to the previous night's homework for an hour and a half. A waste of time, you'd be better off just working through the book on your own, he is best when he is not around. Avoid at all costs.

Funny guy with a great class--just show up and have a good attitude (it helps to go to Japan--even for just a few days--before taking this class). If you get a chance, take part in one of his Seminars--they're hilarious at the post-talk party!

His lectures can be boring at times and intresting at others. He offers a lot of extra credit so I would definitely take advantage of that. He usually gives you a good idea of what will be on the quizzes and exams too.

J231 - Easiest class in the department ... if you don't get an A, shame on you. J680 - One of the hardest classes in the department ... JJ knows his stuff, not always the greatest teacher
