Miriam is probably the most passionate professor I have ever had; she deeply cares about what she is talking about. My Spanish speaking and writing skills improved dramatically in her class. On the other hand, this was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken in my life, the tests were very hard and I didn't even know what to study for them.

Expectations for this class were so ambiguous. We learned hardly anything in lectures and had to depend on the textbook. However, the textbook was awful and even the professor talked bad about it. She cares about her students and we had really cool discussions in class, but when it came to the tests they were so hard and covered so much information

She's a great professor, really thought provoking lectures that connect Spanish literature to global social/historical problems and challenge the way you think. Prepare to read, have discussions, and write a decent amount. She gives study guides for tests and if you pay attention in lectures you'll have the tools to do well. Tests are very fair.

Readings are long, and the study guides are not always give you the information you might need to know for exams. She thinks that her class is your only class and that her opinion is the only one that matters. Does not respond to emails quickly. Participation is required, if you don't participate she will call on you randomly. Very tough grader.

The readings are outrageously long and there are a lot of tests. She acts like her class is the most important class you will ever take but most of what she says I learned more effectively in other classes. She is not ready to provide study guides in a timely manner. She has high expectation for students but not for herself as a teacher.
