Mitch has unrealistic expectations for his students and definitely has pets. The average class grade was 73%, he does NOT grade on a curve, and has no problem failing students! Be prepared to memorize and have weekly quizzes that eventually add up to 150 plant species, genus,family name, and common name by sight no misspellings!

I am genuinely surprised at the negative comments. This was one of my best classes. It was very challenging but it set you up to do well. Example plants are provided so there's no excuse for not knowing them, and Dr. McClaran provides excellent ID characteristics.

Awesome course, highly recommended! Lecture exams are fairly easy, but be sure to study all plant specimens on a (nearly) daily basis or you'll be hurtin' on the weekly quizzes and lab exams.
