This class requires consistent work, about an hour every day. If you do your work on time throughout the whole year, you're going to have A LOT of fun! One of the best profs I've had. Super organized, engaged in learning, small classes,very interactive, if you get 3 days late, you're all lost and it's not fun anymore. Checkout the facebook page!

To be quite honest, I was not a good student when I took her classes a few years ago -- regularly skipping classes and receiving a below-average grade. However, instead of being judgmental, she is still extremely kind and helpful when I wanted to learn Japanese by myself (no credit left due to my major).

Uesaka-sensei's class was challenging-- a lot of studying is demanded from the students, but that's what we're there for! She's probably the nicest teacher I've had so far. She's so nice and extremely helpful.

A very effective professor, helpful too. But watch out, it is a course that does need a lot of work, all the more so if you have never taken any japanese class before. With hard work, an A is attainable. But don't screw up the first 2 midterms, they are actually VERY easy compared to the rest ...

For First Level Japanese. She seems intimidating at first, but that is to impress the difficulty of the class upon her students. She is actually very, very funny and very helpful. She marks hard, but if she didn't she would be teaching her students to make mistakes. Perfect for teaching the language.

At first, she seemed unapprochable, but I was totally wrong. Very helpful teacher, and cares about you if you work hard. Her class is quite hard and she does mark quite strictly, but you learn a lot from her. If you work HARD, you will be able to get an A.

what a cutie! she's so sweet and so funny, does everything in her power to help and always makes class interesting. if you start japanese from scratch, you're in trouble, but if you already know the basics, then she's quite accomodating. wonderful prof!! rippa na sensei desu yo!!

UESAKA sensei is the absoulte best. She really cares about her students is always willing to help both in and outside of class. What else can I say, her course is a real challenge, but very mangeable with a professor and dedidated as her.

that comment just below me was totally unnecessary btw. Kinda torn on Uesaka... she's nice and a very clear, but it's hard to like her too much cause she doesn't relate well with students, and i think connecting is important in a small language class. All in all though, i do recommend her, and she gives you a great base for future study. .

She is a pretty good teacher and quite helpful. However, this class moves quite fast, and most students starting Japanese from scratch have a lot of trouble. Her tests are fair, but she is a hard marker (no breaks, whatsoever.)
