I LOVED this class! And I still have little to no interest in geology. I am not going to lie, this class does require a lot of effort but Professor Iqbal made it worthwhile. He is so passionate about this subject area and he clearly found the right profession! Don't ever skip lab, but you can miss lectures if you have someone to get notes from!

Great guy who does a great job of explaining material in lectures. If you need to miss class, make sure to get notes as exams come straight from lecture material. Make sure to ask questions if you have them in lab, he is willing to help you.

Dr. Iqbal is a great professor! I thoroughly enjoyed taking capstone with him. The class was very interesting and he does a good job of keeping students engaged. The class is all discussion based over the paper that he has you read. Participate and you will be good. He is also a really nice guy and treats his students with fairness and respect.

It helped to read the book before class to be ready for the lecture topic, but almost all test material is covered in lecture so it is not necessary if you get the notes. Ask questions when your unclear on something, he loves it, and if you ask him if something is likely to be on the test he will tell you yes or no. Learn the minerals!

His lectures are interesting if you like the subject. The tests are based on lecture notes. The questions are hard. You have to know the material inside and out. The more you study, the better grade you will get. He usually curves each test by two points. Lab tests are hard. If you miss class, that's 3 questions on the test that you won't know.

Dr. Iqbal is a good guy who means well. Class was boring to me, being a finance major, so it was hard to pay attention. Didn't buy the book because I knew I'd never read it. Took notes during class, studied them and got B's. I think the class was harder than it should have been for a gen ed but not the worst one to take if you have to resort to it.

This guy is absolutely adorable. You absolutely have to go to class to get good grades on the tests, but he does his best to interest people. He clearly loves what he's doing, and I've never seen him get mad at anyone in this class. Not a bad gen ed :)

I honestly didn't like him AT ALL, I felt that his test were a lot harder then expected. His lectures are TERRIBLE and he doesn't write much down. The one good thing is that he is very helpful as long as you just ask! Lab is pretty easy also! Oh and no attendance policy, which is nice!

LOVED this guy! He's so funny, and always gets SO excited about teaching that I almost felt bad about cutting classes. Did well on all tests and he makes everything super easy to understand. Plus, he's adorable ;) Wish he taught more classes so I could have him as a prof. again.

I thought Iqbal was pretty easy. He can be difficult to understand at times - but it's mostly because of his accent. Lab is the toughest part, but don't worry too much if you bomb the first lab quiz. Focus on the lecture tests. The answers are all covered in lecture. Study your lecture notes, and you'll get an A. It's as simple as that.

I do not see how this man got so many good comments. I hated this class with a passion, as do all my classmates. He has a quick temper and is way more likely to yell at you for not drawing straight lines than to help you with the assignment. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS it is awful

I took this geology class and I thought it was awful! I do not see how he got all the positive comments on this site.. He is very hard to understand and his tests are extremely hard to study for. He gets worked up every easily. If you are in this just for a gen ed DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS

I thought he was very clear with everything. Take good notes and you won't have to read the textbook at all. The first lab exam is really tough (go to review sessions), but all the other exams, both lecture and lab, are pretty easy if you study. 4 lecture exams, 2 lab exams

It's a boring class, but not unmanageable. You will probably have to study for the lab tests, but there's only 2. I had a hard time following his notes, and sometimes he is hard to understand. There are 4 lecture tests, final is not comprehensive.

I had a horrible time in this class. I went in thinking it wouldn't be so bad for a gen. ed. but it turned into a nightmare. I have no idea where in the book or notes in class he gets his questions for the tests. Very difficult, frustrating, and you'd be better off taking a different gen. ed.

This is such a good class! Pretty easy, multiple choice tests. Go to class, read the book & notes, & come to class and you'll have a EASY A! Lab is pretty easy, lab tests are harder. Great teacher, very helpful! Take it!
