She's a hard grader, but if you go to her office hours, she is more than willing to help students out, and she reaches out if people do bad on the midterm. She really cares for her students, and does what she can to help with grades. She is an amazing professor!

Prof. Rothenberg is a wonderful lecturer and teacher. I learned a great deal from this class. Her one flaw is that she is not very organized. Otherwise, a great experience.

Professor Rothenberg really cares about her students as individuals. It was an honor to learn from her. Don't take this course if you're looking to skip class or get an easy A--you work for your grade, but it's so worth it. I will just say to have your books ready on day 1 and don't buy any ebooks. I would definitely take her again!

TONS of reading (like, a book a week). But super smart, nice, caring, and not overbearing with work or expectations. Is willing to work with you if you ask her for help! Has great feedback! Would take her again.

I am not an English major, but Prof Rothenberg was the greatest teacher I have had at Tulane so far. She cares so much about her students and the class, and it really shows in her lessons. The class is a lot of work, but it is so so worth it-- it will change your life.

If you're majoring in English & love learning about literature, you MUST take her class. Best professor I had at Tulane. She has brilliant ideas about the texts, cares a lot about her students, and puts a ton of thought & effort into her classes. You have to read/put in the work (or she'll call you out) but it's worth it. Plus she works with Zizek.

I am baffled when I look back and think about how much I learned from Molly-- she changed the way I look at the world. She truly cares about her students. She pushed each and every one of her students to get out of their comfort zones and talk about tough ideas. Always available for office hours, and on the phone. Best class I've taken at Tulane.

Really enjoyed Prof. Rothenberg's class. She knows her material extremely well, and prepares her course with forethought and with the student's learning in mind. A lot of work, yes, but she is always fair and the work always is to either stimulate discussion or it ties into the meta-narrative of the class. Rewarding class if you put the work in.

Molly was probably the best professor I had at Tulane and the only one who was truly great at leading a seminar. Seminars can be painful, but Molly made it interesting without being stressful; she not only provided a fruitful ground for us to work through our thoughts on the novels but was a wealth of knowledge on the subject as well.

The NICEST professor ever she really cares about her students (will give extensions if you're sick, and always wants you to call her if you need help) but because she is so helpful she expects a lot of her students' performance in the class. Expect to be either finishing a novel a day, or to be writing an essay every weekend. So nice though.

Wonderful class. It was at an honors level, so it was reading intensive (and discussion based so you had to do your reading!), but every reading selected was interesting. She wove the Odyssey, bible, Qur'an and other ideologies into the European and African pieces we read and we even made it into Mayan and Chinese scar literature. She is brilliant!

In my view, Molly Rothenberg is a magnificent professor. She can be a bit intimidating at times, but she is undeniably brilliant and quite inspiring. One of the best professors I've had in 10+ years of college-level coursework....

I agree that she treats you as if you are inferior and a little child. It was truly painful to sit through the repeated lectures on semiotics. She manages to turn a five minute (tops) explanation into a two day lecture, and even reviews it frequently. Thank you Molly, we got it the first 500 times. Let's actually cover something this time.

How can she possibly have a good rating? If you enjoy being treated like a five year old, then Molly Rothenberg is for you. Otherwise, avoid her like the plague. I have taken 5 other English classes, and never have I been so dissapointed with a professor. Her first lesson covers the definition of genre. And yes, it means the same as in 1st grade.

Rothenberg makes classes demanding, but satisfying. She is fair in grading, but be aware that she's not about grade inflation. You'll have to work for the grade you get, but you'll learn a lot, too.

She is exactly what college is supposed to be about; she has high expectations, and she makes sure students have the support to do well, like: "Come by my office so we can talk about your paper ideas" (I don't have any ideas) "Great, come by my office and we'll find you some." I'd take her again.
